Quote:Hughes is a better athlete than Werner and from what Indy fans are saying, Werner didn't have the technique to overcome his lackluster athleticism.
last year, he probably would have looked great on this team all things considering... this year, he may have some trouble standing out let alone getting alot of reps.
Everyone is assuming he was brought in to play LEO, but what about OTTO backer?

Maybe that's where they do end up placing him, but he was an awful fit in Indy's 3-4 and I don't see why we'd conduct similar experiment here. Especially considering his success in college came as a 4-3 end.

Great college player, really suspect pro player. Maybe was in the wrong scheme and system. Kick the tires. No real loss if he tanks.
Remember Werner's draft, there were people here banging the table to draft him with the jags 1st round pick. Lol

So you're calling out message board posters who can't predict the future? Do I have that right?

Yeah. Much like with Bosa this year, there would be fly by comments calling him the best player in the draft.

Quote:Can he play oline?
Welp.

I'm pretty sure you're the last one that can say stuff like this with all the word vomit you spew on here.

The key for edge rushers is the 3 cone, Bosa's time is elite for a man that size. Couple that with his strength and explosiveness and you have a player that should rack up 10-12 sacks/year

Quote:well to be fair, that is our juggernaut power back who has been known to plow people over ever since college.... wait, i may be a little mistaken there.
to be fair that was probably due more to the poor angle he took and the better leverage point that Robinson had.

This
Reading some of the Indy press at the time of Werner's release, lends me to believe he is going to be camp fodder.  He couldn't rush the passer, moving him next to LB, and that failed.  Even in extensive preseason action against 3rd stringers, he was completely unproductive.  Doesn't sound pretty....

Took his money and ran so to speak
Sometimes players just don't translate well against NFL caliber athletes.

He was miscast in Indy, but I don't see much Natural pass rushing talent in him.

It's good to kick the tires and take a look though.
He had 4 sacks and 50 tackles in 2014.

He was a beast at FSU.

Many of us wanted McCallister from Florida in the draft. Instead we got Werner.

I'm glad we got him.
Here we go. Mario Williams thrived in 4 3 defense for tinhorns. Then failed in 3 4. Could he be the next Mario? Doubtful.

However some DE are better lined up on the edge. Then on the outside.

I love what the jags are doing though. Passrush Passrush Passrush.
Can't hurt to kick the tires, not, like we gave him 50 mil guaranteed.
Championship. Superb Owl, here we come. Best player signed all day by the Jaguars.
