Couldn't say it any better. I wouldn't be shocked if the Jags kicked some behinds though. But until Gus can show that he can make the most out of his players...
I had the team at 9-7 before the great offseason. I am sticking with 9-7 because if look at all the teams who a great offseason Oakland, Houston, Tennessee they are all on the Jags schedule

I wonder who Browns fans said this about as they desperately waited to get rid of their worthless coach, Bill Belichick...

I'll role with this too. I think Dave has done a great job with player acquisition since he's been here. They've not all worked out but they never all work out as we hope. On paper, we are significantly improved on defense now. I nevertheless choose to pay more attention to rational thought than to emotionalism where the Jags are concerned and not raise my expectations too high too fast. Cracking .500 would be an awesome accomplishment for this team given...

* our not so distant past records; we've only won 12 games in the past 3 years

* the difficulty of our current season schedule

* the fact that while we did gain some talent via the draft those draftees are nevertheless rookies who will need some time to realize their potential here.

If we do better than .500 then that's terrific! Let's hope for a super bowl championship this season! Hip, Hip...Hooray!

... however, my expectation is to reach .500. Anything beyond that is gravy.

Depressing because historically that leaves only two outcomes: we perpetually suck like the Browns, or Gus uses his lessons learned here to become a wildly successful coach elsewhere.
Quote:Unfortunately we do have a player lost to suspension for the first four games - a pretty good one. But two major upgrades at CB will lessen the pain while we wait for Aaron Colvin to return.

I think the defense will continue to struggle in some games because of our schedule and the fact that rookies have a lot to learn. We should see the defense make huge strides in 2017.
Thank god the Broncos offense will suck.

Another piece of crap article I would have never known existed had some clown not posted it here. Just stop 60 inch TV boy. Do some chores for your momma or something for Christ's sake.

The writer has valid points.

Or, you know, the roster improves dramatically (as it is doing) and players turn out to be more important than coaching (or at least a pre-requisite for coaching to be useful) and things improve here with whatever coach we have. But don't let that obvious option get in the way of your whining.

Yeah, because that happens all the time.
Quote:Cautiously optimistic means you're too scared to just be optimistic, even though optimistic just means keeping positive, there is nothing that this team has done that should put anyone in a pessimistic frame of mind, for the past three years we have finally started to act like a real NFL franchise, sure not everything has been perfect but they seldom are, but when things have gone the wrong way we seem to be course correcting better,

Now let's not be ridiculous and predict unreasonable expectations but to be optimistic and say you believe this team will be better than last year is hardly a stretch, and definitely does not require caution
I appreciate your perspective and respect your opinion.

This is exactly the kind of response I wanted when posting.

Your points are valid.

Now let's see what everyone else says....
Quote:I feel like people should speed up. Why do I have to be cautious? If I get let down then that's on me.

It kills me when people get hyped up only for people to tell me to slow down.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR ENTHUSIASM!

DUUUVALLLLLL!
Quote:Amen.

People told me the same about the Cubs.

Guess what? They won 97 games and made it to the NLCS last year. They're off to a 20-6 start this year. They are young, talented and a good group of young guys.

Guess what? This Jaguars team is young, talented and has a good group of guys too.

Bortles, Hurns, ARob, Linder, Telvin, Thomas, Ramsey, Jack, Fowler, Jackson, Marks, Yeldon, Cann, Beachum, Gipson, House, Colvin...

This team has plenty of talent to make a dramatic turn around this season.
Every response I read is awesome!

There is some TRUE PASSIONATE FANS HERE!

I LOVE IT

We don't know who Denver's starting QB will be when the Broncos play in Jacksonville. Nor do we know what to expect from Paxton Lynch if/when he replaces Mark Sanchez.

Of course we do know anything can happen and by then our defense, including former Bronco Malik Jackson, will be ready for the challenge.
