Quote:11 M if they did accept it? If a miracle happens and he finally plays up to his potential, we can franchise tag him. Would be the same thing. I see Beachum beating him though.

It's 11.9m due in case of injury. Even if they picked it up, they could still cut him barring injury. That's my understanding anyway.
Jag-Wear are hiring...
Well, those who voted No.......WERE RIGHT!!!!!

Tweet from Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) - The #Jaguars are declining the fifth-year option on OT Luke Joeckel, who will compete at left tackle, could kick inside this year.

There is no way Joke can play guard. He's too weak to play LT, which is the most finesse position on the OL. How does anyone expect him to drive block Vince Wilfork when he cant even move Whitney Mercilus?

Exactly.

Details, details.

He won't have to worry so much about getting beat on the edge, for starters. Still, at 6'6...that's pretty tall for an inside guy. Ideally, Luke steps up and secures the LT spot with Beachum kicking to LG.

Its obvious, really.
I'm shocked.

Okay, not really.  Everyone expected this to happen.

Joeckel is on notice.  His replacement is in the wings.  He'll have this opportunity to bolster his value to other teams, but if he starts the season as the LT, it's only because his replacement isn't quite ready to go.

There won't be any moving inside.  If he's a rag doll vs. the bull rush, how would he handle some of the big DTs in the league any better.  We got rid of Beadles.  We don't need to take a step back at Guard by moving Joeckel inside.  If he sticks around, he will be one of the backup tackles.

I think this sets up the possibility that if he doesn't win the starting job, he could get released.

This is a vote of no confidence.

I had almost completely forgotten about how he got absolutely embarrassed by mercilus...

That was really hard to watch. Maybe Luke well kick it into gear... I doubt it, but it could happen

That last game was awful. Just awful.
Our rebuild would be so much further along if the 2013 draft wasn't a complete failure
Caldwell saying one thing and doing another. All that stuff about not letting sacks his way, and he actually played well up to the last game sounds like someone you'd option. Guess he forgot this piece of business was coming up a few months away. The Joke sucks. Glad he was only pump faking with the quotes.
No surprise, he sucks.
Pretty easy decision. Shocked Fisher's option was picked up (only after the draft though). Can't even blame Caldwell for taking Luke though. He was seen as a can't miss. 2013 was one of the worst drafts of all time.
