Quote:Denard put the ball on the ground a lot however
This is very frustrating, but he does add a little more value than Grant on special teams. Both are unreliable as true RBs, so what will determine the final RB spot is special teams play. I think Denard wins that aspect of it.

Could be an interesting battle between the two
Quote:Are we really ready to cut a guy with Grant's speed/explosiveness because of one fumble on a pitch with a defender right in his face?
If he had done anything else in his brief career other than run really fast in shorts, no, we wouldn't be.
He's yet another example of a bad football player in the body of a great athlete.
Quote:Guys who made the roster in previous years may be in trouble after the influx of free agents and draft picks, especially on the defensive side...who do you guys feel are in danger of not making the team?
Of course injuries and a lot of other variables may actually come into play on whether who stays or goes, but I feel this year a lot of serviceable players want make the cut!
Should be a very competitive roster to make this year because of all the moves that were made!
How would you like it if we went on your company's message board and said what about K-Dub he sure isn't holding his own time to hand him the pink slip?
Joke..but some of these player bashing threads are hard to read.
Look it is a business you either play great & get a huge contract along with commercial maybe movie money or you get fired. They are professionals they know the game and the way it is played. I do feel bad in the Offseason especially after a draft because you can kind of tell who is going to be cut. That is a lot on a man, not knowing how he will provide for his family. I mean if they were smart with their money, most of them are good for life but not all of them.
We simply need to look at Police Officer Earnest Wilford to realize that they aren't all rich simply for playing in the NFL.
Ernest Wilford is a police officer now?

Yes, in Jacksonville too(sheriff i think). I also think Henne is out if our 6th rounder learns the offense quickly. Alualu, mccray, gratz, etc. then there is the safety issue. Is sample going to compete for SS and back up/take Cyps job? Who is behind Gipson is another interesting camp battle. All I know is, this team is loaded. I cannot wait until camp!
Will this year be the end of the final Gene Smith guys
I think Cyprien and Sample will compete for the starting job during training camp.

If you don't count suspended Justin Blackmon, we have only one Gene Smith player left.
Even if we keep 11 guys on the D-Line, there's going to be some tough choices. Alualu has versatility even if he doesn't do anything particularly well, but at the same time, someone has to go. I'd hate to give up on Michael Bennett - remember how pumped we all were this time last year after landing him in the 6th? You give up on that after a season? Gotta keep a guy like that, even with Marks and now Day on the roster.
Chris Smith for sure is gone, he never seemed to mesh with the coaching staff, not sure what he did but these guys put a lot of emphasis on practice, I think he was one of those guys who just did not like it. I think Chris Smith actually is decent depth, but this coaching staff clearly does not think highly of him. He was cut his first year, brought back, made the team the second year but barely played, I think hes definitely gone.
I dont really see any surprise cuts at the moment, but a few names to keep an eye on are Alualu, Gratz, McCray, Bennet. For sure, someone on that D Line won't make it and probably a name we are familiar with. I think Alualu makes it, hes good depth and can play multiple positions, I think Bennet has disappointed the coaching staff. He is going to have to have a very strong camp to make this roster. Gratz could be pushed off, but may make it because of Colvin. McCray, Gratz and the Undrafted Guys Hilton and Calhoun will all compete for a roster spot. I like Hilton from Ole Miss, hes that small, playmaking corner the Jags are missing. We have the guys on the outside, but we could use one of those small CB, Colvin is the closest thing.
There will be a lot of competition this training camp, there will be names that we are familiar with that get cut, as well as draft picks.
Mccray will probably be gone and be one of the top 2 corners in the league within the next 2 seasons on whatever team he shows up on
Would anybody notice is alualu is gone? Dude is a complete non factor.
Hopefully Gratz is gone, unless he agrees to a new contract that pays him in bubblegum. On second thought, scratch that. Gratz is terrible.
LOL. It's amusing to me how the first practice hasn't even taken place, the first preseason game hasn't been played and yet people want to cut players.
