I found Holmes' measurables in a Bleacher Report story.  9'5" in the broad jump and 7.00 in the 3-cone.  So 1 out of 2.  I also found Woodard's Pro Day numbers.  9'9" in the broad jump!  7.08 in the 3-cone!  2 fer 2!  So he should AVERAGE 12.5 sacks a year!  Sweet!

Good God....between they guys we already have, the FA's Caldwell picked up and his amazing draft.....

opposing teams better look out!

I do believe would cut put together two good d-lines.

One thing for sure, should be able to rest on rotations.

Send the pressure in waves.  The back end should have tighter coverage now.

To continue my thought...it normally takes a while for rookie DE's to have success at the NFL level. The moves that worked so well in college are not working against NFL OT's. And the Jags face good QBs early. Gotta hope one or more of those players is ready to bust out early and create some pressure.

The much improved secondary and lb coverage will help wonders !
Quote:I have a good feeling about Holmes. He has the size to play a strict pass rush end or OLB and great speed and strength combo. May need a year or so to put it together but if we have the skill on the field like we do on paper, he may be in a great spot to learn and then contribute later.

Yeah. With his speed and productivity, I think he can be an upgrade to Skuta at Otto.

Or maybe use him like Von Miller. Or Both.

Quote:I think the interior pass rush is going to be pretty impressive. Jackson and now Day, added to Marks? We will pressure the QB this season. Double team Jackson, they'll get you from the edge. Ok, maybe I'm excited, but this front 7 is so improved (on paper anyway) we may really have a magical season!

*i make no apologies for my enthusiasm*
Nor should you
Quote:With a pass rush package of Fowler, Jackson, Day, Marks, Yannick...

...And at LB Jack and Smith- with Ramsey, House and Prince at corner and Gipson at safety

I feel pretty good about 3rd downs now.

#Feelin'Good #GoJags!

The gaining of Jalen Ramsey & Prince Amukamara, TaShaun Gipson helped the pass rush by providing great cover along with House.  The team adding Chris Ivory and LT Beachum will aid in the run game taking off time from the clock to aid the Defense out as well.  Then the huge signing of FA DL Malik Jackson and having a healthy Fowler & Marks return should increase pressure from the inside while the rookies attempt to get a rush from the Leo spot

Yannick Ngakoue on obvious pass downs should be exciting to see this preseason & maybe into the regular.

That being said I don't think the team is a 100% fixed, for one players get hurt & the team could use more quality depth at certain spots while other positions are still weak (Strong Safety, LT, Center)

We definitely still have holes to fill. The team will not be 100% fixed until we get much better backups on the offensive line and at both safety positions, a starting strong safety, a starting center, and a kicker who's reliable at the 15 yard line.

Quote:It is obvious some holes still exist. I am not ready to call us a playoff team until we upgrade the SS and OL depth because some players will get hurt. Are we playoff contenders? On paper, absolutely. I love what the media is saying about us. However, I also think people are jumping too far ahead because we literally do not have a center or fullback and depth is not good at some positions.

We don't need a fullback. We didn't have one last year either. And we do have a center. His name is Luke Bowanko. So you're wrong.

My question is...Is Bowanko a starting caliber center or should he just be providing depth along the line?

Luke Bowanko is a left tackle. If Tyson Alualu is cut (TBD) yes, we will need a fullback.

The fact that Bowanko was moved to LT screams, "He sucks at center."

I wonder if Bennett will be forced onto the practice squad should Sheldon Day out perform in PreSeason.

He's going to compete I'm sure. In addition to Bowanko we also signed Mackenzie Bernadeau who has experience at center. In addition to that Cann also has experience at center and there's talk Linder can move to center as well. We're fine.

Or, we lack depth at LT.

They used Tyson Alualu as a fullback last year at times so I guess they must of had a need at least when they chose to do that on those plays.

They mentioned that Linder will play center (or tossed the idea up).. yet another year 3 + under GM Dave Caldwell & HC Gus Bradley where the Center position is still a question... before the start of the season...

not good at a key role on the Offensive line

I knew that they couldnt fix all the problems with the draft especially when they missed out on some players in Free Agency, but the team has improved overall a lot after Free Agency & The draft..

How was Bowanko chosen to be Luke Joeckel's backup? He was just learning to play LT.

I understand that. She's referencing the lack of a true fullback on the roster. That's not needed in Olsen's system.
