Quote:But the idea of getting him definitely was. The Dolphins wanted Jack so badly they tried to trade up multiple times to get in position to pick Jack.
“We tried — a lot,” a club source texted me.
The Dolphins were crazy for Jack. But they didn’t do a crazy thing.
....
“We were active today, I’ll just say that,” general manager Chris Grier said of the attempt to move to Jack. “We were active.”
Tweet from Eugene Frenette (@GeneFrenette) - It appears #Jaguars, by trading up 2 spots in 2nd round, boxed out the @MiamiDolphins from drafting LB Jack. http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/armando-salguero/article74835262.html

Dave Caldwell wins again!
We are not just the best drafters but also the luckiest.
I don't get it, we only gave up a 5th...

Don't question it. Just thank the football God(s).

our time has come, been to long
We tried to trade up back into the first but whichever team we spoke to wanted a fourth round pick and we didn't want to give that away.

Seems like Dave created his own luck in this case.

The Cowboys helped him twice.

They had to drop like 2 spots...they probably had a target and didn't want to move far down.

That's not true. They traded that pick to Miami for their second and a 4th. I'm not sure how Miami didn't get ahead of us. Miami had to at least have offered a 4th to have them drop 6 spots, and we offered a 5th to move 2. Most teams, I imagine would have taken the 4th for 6 spots. Baltimore essentially got a 4th and a 5th to move down 6 spots. That's just shrewd movement from the Baltimore front office.
