If Ramsey is what we think he is, we will have the best CB in team history and a true physical shut down corner capable of taking away a team's best receiver.
I have been thinking about how our secondary-specifically corners- now matches up against the division's receiving corps.
I think against the tacks, Ramsey would be against Dorial Green-Beckham. While Beckham has him by a few inches, I think if DGB continues to develop, he would be the tacks biggest threat, and of all the DBs, Ramsey would be the best person to cover him.
This would possibly leave House against Kendall Wright, and Amukumara against Justin Hunter. While DGB would worry me, I think our secondary would match up fairly well with them.
Against the Colts, I would think Ramsey would match up against either Donte Moncrief of T.Y. Hilton-probably Moncrief. While he has the speed to stick with Moncrief and the physicality to muscle Hilton, I think Hilton's quickness might be more of an issue against Ramsey, especially off of the los. House would, in my mind, ideally cover either Dorsett or Hilton, while Amukumara would cover Moncrief or Hilton.
This leaves the Texans, with Deandre Hopkins, Jalen Strong and rookie WR Fuller. I think of all of the divisional teams, our secondary would match up best against their receivers due to similar size. House actually did a decent job against Hopkins for three quarters until folding in the 4th. I think Ramsey could muscle either Hopkins or Fuller and disrupt their timing. I think House and Amukumara are fast enough and savvy enough to handle the rookie and the second year Strong.
Of course, the team has to be able to better pressure these QBs in order to shut them down. But this is the most confident I have felt about our secondary in a long time.
