Quote:I would take Alexander. You have two top corners and hope one of the DE falls to late second and come up and grab them.
I just find it very hard to believe we'd go for another corner.
Myles Jack in the 2nd may be worth the risk - he could be special - even if only for 4 years? I'M in - especially after the home run hit in the 1st
I would love to see Jack be the pick and pray/hope he is healthy and can play for years. I would also look at Spence and Martin.
I really like Myles Jack but every single team (barring the Patriots and Chiefs) passed on him last night so the injury must be as concerning as the reports said. I think if we pass on him a second time Caldwell wasn't being completely honest when he said Jack was still on his board.
If the Jaguars pass on him in the 2nd round then that is very telling, but for every team to pass on a guy that might not play this year & has an injury pending surgery like micro fracture I wouldn't be totally shocked if he fell out of the 2nd round too.
If the team had a good look at him and figure he could play most of this year but need surgery towards the end of this season & not be back until mid of next year if ever...
I just dont know he was like Smith great talent but the injury is simply too much for teams to take that high of a risk in the 1st round.... 2nd .. 3rd (i would be highly shocked if he fell out of the 3rd round.. really dont see that happening).
Quote:Kevin Dodd, Noah Spence.
NFL.com's poll has the Jaguars in 3rd place with teams that fans thought had the best draft (in round 1 so far).. with 11%
Mike Mayock..
5. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jalen Ramsey, CB, Florida State
This is a dream scenario for the Jaguars. Ramsey is arguably the best position player in this draft. Jaguars coach Gus Bradley comes from Seattle, where they covet long corners. He's a special athlete; he ran track, won the ACC long jump title, ran the opening leg of the 4x100-meter relay. He's got catch-up speed like I haven't seen. He has a different skill set. This is a different cat, and he's got a "wow" factor.
Quote:2nd Round excitement
Mackensie Alexander, CB
Reggie Ragland MILB
Myles Jack OLB
Nick Martin, Center
A'Shawn Robinson, DT
Kevin Dodd, DE
Noah Spence, DE
Moritz Bohringer, WR
Derrick Henry, RB
The more I think about it I wouldn't trade up, they will have a great player there at their pick...
Wow, that is some smorgasboard.
My picks in order of preference, subject to change at any time:
Reggie Ragland
Kevin Dodd
Noah Spence
Myles Jack
I know Mackenzie Alexander is a good CB, but corner for us is getting sort of like DT for us. We're kind of full up there.
Reggie Ragland, because we haven't done anything about LB, and because he can be put at OTTO until Poz finally wears out for good.
We need Jack. The kid is special.
I want both Jack and Spence. And depending if one continues to fall we could trade back into the 2nd to get him. Like we did with Allen Robinson.

At least we have gotten a good look at Jack with all of the visits we have made, so I am comfortable with their decision. The micro-fracture thing is concerning, but folks like Revis, Kelce, Burfict, Clowney, etc seem to have been OK with it. Whatever they decide, we seem to have good options. So glad they didn't burn draft picks getting back into the first. if they do need to hop back up again into the second, should be a more reasonable price.

Dude, the way Jack is falling, he's gonna be there in the 3rd...
I don't care for the boos. Kinda childish. I've never been a huge fan of Goodells, but I also realize he wrongfully gets blamed for most the things people complain about the most. If anything, I kind of like the guy a tad more after seeing him smiling (almost like he's holding back laughter) as he's walking to the podium.
Quote:Nice! Hey, Bullsye, What are your thoughts on Spence?
I think his skills could be helpful, but his off field stuff is concerning to me.
I read an interview that helped me think he may have gotten past it, but my risk averse nature tells me to stay away.
At face value, I prefer Dodd, but I could see taking Spence if:
1. his off field stuff is behind him; and
2. the team wants to add a pass rushing OTTO over a traditional LDE.

Wrong thread. Sorry.
I think I would want Jack if he is there at 38. There were talks about us drafting him at 5 even with his knee problems. We hit a homer in the 1st round, lets hit back to back homers with Myles Jack. Even if he plays for 4 years I would be happy with that from a 2nd rounder with his ceiling. And maybe his knee recovers.

There hasn't been any question about his ability to play this year. He's completely cleared to go. The only concern is WHEN his knee will need microfracture surgery, and that's a question of 1st or 2nd contract.
I haven't seen any reports that show legitimate concern over the first 2-3 years of his career.
IMO teams simply felt a 1st Rd. pick was too high of a risk. Many teams may even feel like a 2nd is still too high, but I would be shocked (again) if there isn't a team that decides a 2nd Rd pick for a guy of his talent is worth the risk.
