Good morning Jaguar fans! Here's my 7-round Jags mock for you guys. Don't forget to check out the mock rules in the beginning!
Enjoy
Em
It's sure been a while since the Czar last graced us with his presence.
I'll comment on your mock...
1. OT Cam Robinson - the Jaguars have brought him in for a visit, but your the first to suggest they might take him at #4 overall. We've been thinking the visit was more about the possibility he falls to the early part of round two.
2. RB Dalvin Cook would be a blockbuster second round pick if he fell. Duval would literally explode. You're right that he'd be a steal at the spot... perhaps the steal of the draft.
3. CB Cordea Tankersley in round three might challege Cook for the steal of the draft. I've thought about taking him at #35, so to get him in round three would be out of this world. Do you really think he'll fall out of round two?
4. QB Josh Dobbs - If Webb, Peterman and Kaaya are gone, than I can see a guy like Dobbs. Do you like Dobbs better than Jerod Evans? I might wait a round and see if Dobbs or Evans is there in round five. In round four in this mock, I can see a TE like Shaheen, Kittle or Roberts.
5. CB Ashton Lampkin - ok... but two CBs?
6. NT Ralph Green III - Interesting... This is the first I've heard his name, but I've been looking into potential NTs in rounds five through seven who might be able to come in and rotate with Abry Jones. He just might fit this bill. Other names I've considered are Montravius Adams, Stevie Tu'iklolavatu, Elijah Qualls and Lowell Lotulelei.
7a. WR Speedy Noil - He'll need to at least beat out Bryan Walters, but if he sticks it would make our WRs even more stacked. I'll take your work on how good he is as I've not exactly looked at the WRs in this draft. Simply put, I haven't anticipated the Jaguars drafting one.
7b. SS Jamal Carter Sr - I can see him as depth behind Church.
I appreciate how you always aren't afraid to differ with the Mel Kiper and Mike Mayock's of the world. I have a couple questions for you regarding your picks.
1. How good can Cam Robinson get and how risky would he be due to previous "behavioral issues?"
2. How would you rate Dobbs in comparison to Nathan Peterman?
3. Are there any small school interior linemen that you like in rounds 5-7?
P.S. Cook would be amazing in the 2nd and if his personal workouts don't shine maybe he will continue to drop like Jack did last year. Where do you rate him among your running backs?
Thanks.
Always enjoy your takes Emory. Welcome back.
I have a hard time imagining the Jags not selecting a guard in the first 3 or 4 rounds. They were decimated at LG on the depth chart last season and don't possess a clear-cut starter there.
Unless you envision Cam kicking inside or forcing Parnell to do so, I'd feel better about a guard in the second or third (Feeney or Dawkins, preferably ) than I would a tackle in the first round.
Yikes, I normally like Emory's takes too, but I'd be hard pressed to think of a worse first four rounds than this.
Cam Robinson...honestly I could see a Tackle here IF the top DL are off the board at 4 which is possible. I'm partial to Ramcyzk though.
Cook in the 2nd. If he's there no complaints.
In Tankersleys spot I could easily see a G and the team still take a CB in the 5th. I know very little about Lampkin I'll have to check him out.
I think Dobbs is underrated and can be a good backup/starter in a pinch in this league.
If they grab Noil, I hope he actually plays up to his athletic ability because that'd be a steal.
If we're playing Robinson at Guard, then I can get behind it. At tackle I just don't see him as a top 10 pick.
Jeez I hate this mock lol

Thanks man! I actually have Evans graded higher than Dobbs. I have him going to the Cards in Rd 2 or 3 of the Cards Mock.

Thanks man, glad to be back! One guard that'll be a great fit for you guys would be Jordan Morgan out of Kutztown. Dude is a certified beast

How can you possibly not like Cook in the 2nd or Tankersley in the 3rd?
Cordrea ran a 4.40 at 6'1, and nfl.com sums him up by saying he, "Has an impressive body of work as a lockdown, boundary cornerback..."

Cook has the negative...quadfecta? Bad athlete, bad injuries, bad character, bad fumbles. The better question is how could you like him in the 2nd. If we're willing to settle on someone with Cook's off field issues then Mixon would be the far better player and as many experts have said recently the front offices feel more comfortable with Mixon's character than Cook's.
If we were set on taking a corner in the third round he would be a slot corner that has a premium on lateral movement. Tankersley's 1% vertical (!), 31% 3 cone, and 15% shuttle suggests he would get abused by a quick slot guy. Someone like Witherspoon or Awuzie would fit better. They are both big like Tankersley to match up with a seam busting TE, but also have the premium athletic profile to match up better with a traditional slot WR.
Tankersley is not an inside CB, but on the outside he's potentially a shut-down guy.
As for Cook, you'd have to be crazy to not get him in the 2nd round unless we already got Fournette. ...and what character concerns are worse than punching out a woman?

I don't really see any reason that Tankersley should be ranked higher then the two I mentioned as an outside corner either.
As for Cook, I'm just telling you what everyone is saying. Cook has the longer list of incidents, plus they say he the types of people that he keeps in his entourage is troubling. I'm not saying Mixon isn't also a big worry, but if you are taking a guy who is going to be a concern off the field then take the one who is a better player, way better athlete, and doesn't have the laundry list of injuries.
Will KY own up when Cook blows up in the NFL? Off the field stuff from you is getting old.

I don't believe Mixon to be a "way better athlete." From their highlight reels, Mixon is typically just a step ahead of the defenders where Cook is typically WAY ahead with nobody even close.
It's interesting that from watching all the film on these guys that you end up ranking Teez Tabor as your #1 CB prospect. Are you worried that he's running 40 times in the 4.6 to 4.8 range? Do you still think Tabor is better is better than guys like Conley?
Also, you have Desmond King ranked in your top five, but Kevin King is nowhere in sight. Did you not look at Kevin, or do you have graded low... and if you did, do you still after his combine?
You also have Kazee in your top five... Kazee? Really? ...but the guy is so small.
Further down in your CB rankings you have three guys in your top 20 I haven't heard of and am not listing in my top 30.
Can you tell us more about Dante Blackmon, Jamal Agnew and Taylor Reynolds?
Finally, you have Gareon Conley at #25... Say what? Why are you dogging him so hard core.
