They can't turn the power up, 1010XL is a second tier station meant only to serve Jax Beach, not the metro area.
They are severely limited on power on FM and have a strangled antenna pattern on AM.

Seems to be a lot of dislike and/or disdain for 1010 and the various lineups/changes/and or individuals on the shows. But sure do have a lot of knowledge of exactly what is going on, what is being said, and what is being done. Just turn the radio dial.
I like 1010, in fact I think Hacker's show is the best. He will say something and the get picked apart. It shows two angles to every store.
I do think at times there are too many commercials, but what can you do?

I like them too. Other than Frange with his tendency to repeat everything, no one really bothers me on that station.

The hate may be a bit overboard. But saying Demsey is "one of the better ones across the country" is also a bit extreme.
Of all the guys there, Frangie probably gets me the most. If I weren't a Pirates fan, his constant talking about them would get old as well.
Mike Dempsey is pretty good. "One of the better ones across the country" may be extreme, but the guy has had national radio shows and almost anyone you ask will say he's the best at 1010.

For what Dempsey "specializes" in, his colleagues regard him as up near the top. And I am not talking just his local colleagues.

I do not see Dempsey staying in JAX, he will move up to Orlando or bigger markets like all the others did.

I sure hope he stays. I think he likes the area. Has raised his boy here his whole life too. He does national stuff on XM as well, so I hope that satisfies his hunger to get into larger markets :woot:

Its the only local sports talk. Whats the problem with people wanting good shows on there? Hacker is terrible. Ballou and T-Wigg were on together one afternoon last week and it was great. The two together daily would be nice.
But maybe I just need to "turn the radio dial". ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As a native Pittsburgher, I must clarify that Frangie never actually lived in Pittsburgh or anywhere near Pittsburgh. He's Florida born and raised.
He's more like Tommy to us on Goodfellas.

I like Hacker as he is one of the best prepared radio guys here in Jacksonville. That said, his loyalty to UF is kind of obsessive; especially for someone that never even went to school there. He's a UNF grad. I'm kind of ok with Alums being obsessive with their alma mater but outsiders should only carry a certain level of rooting interest.
