<p style="background-color:transparent;">TFY Draft Insider Tony Pauline reports the 49ers "desperately covet" Oregon DE DeForest Buckner.
Buckner is a candidate to be the first non-quarterback drafted, with the Chargers at No. 3 overall linked heavily to him for a number of weeks. But if San Diego opts instead for an offensive lineman or CB/S Jalen Ramsey, Buckner is a candidate to tumble for a couple picks and could land either in the Ravens'. 49ers', or Browns' laps at Nos. 6, 7, and 8 overall. If the 49ers are that enamored with Buckner, they have the ammo -- a league-high 12 picks -- to move up.
If they want to give up a few picks to leapfrog Baltimore, I'd be all ears.
Chip Kelly's guy. Not too surprising.

Certainly, we might still be able to land Jack/Bosa at 7.
Would love to see it go QB, QB, OT, Elliott. We trade with SF adding a second or third rounder.
They take Buckner and either Bosa, Jack is guaranteed to be there at 7.

If pick 3-4 would end up OL/Ramsey or Ramsey/Elliott, I'd really consider trading out of 5 if the price is right. San Francisco takes Buckner at 5, Baltimore takes Bosa/Jack/other player at 6, and we're still guaranteed at least one of Bosa/Jack at 7.

Bingo, hopefully land and extra 2nd in the process, although that would be a steep price for San Fran to pay. If we land an extra 2nd I'd like to see the Jags trade back up in the 1st and select a guy like Noah Spence or Shaq Lawson assuming we take Jack in the 1st, also assuming both guys are available in the 22-25 range, Rick Spielman (the Vikings GM) has said teams have been calling about trading up to the 23rd spot, he's always willing to wheel and deal.

Same here!
The current line of thinking is that if the Jags do trade down its because they don't like the guys currently on the board or they have someone else in mind outside of Jack/Bosa/Ramsey.
A guy like Floyd.
The real question is what could we realistically get from San Francisco should the draft fall like that?
There's a template for a move from 7 to 5 when we gave up a fourth rounder to move up and pick Blackmon in 2012, but even on draft night I thought that was a bit low. I'd love for them to part with a second rounder, but I'd probably push for a third rounder and one of their day three picks.

haha I'm not too sure if the Chip Kelly connection has anything to do with it, Kelly works for a dictatorial GM in Trent Baalke, Baalke has shown he can give a rats [BLEEP] on what his coaches think.
Armstead and Buckner hmmm

I'd take a 3rd rounder in a heartbeat
This is what I was saying the other day. I think San Fran is our main target to possibly move back. It's not too far back and there will be players available that they want/need; i.e. Tunsil/Stanley, Buckner. If they package a 2nd or 3rd with it, done deal!
GO JAGS!!

Great scenario. Would love to have an extra 2nd round pick. If we take Bosa, Jags have the ammo to trade back into the 1st to get one of the true pass rushers that could rotate with Fowler at LEO and OTTO, or add Ryan Kelly to solidify the interior OL, or a developmental CB, like Burns, Apple, or Jackson.

Me too.
If nothing else, it would give us ammunition to trade up back into the bottom of the first, if necessary.
Its all falling into place...or is it....

First three picks will be Ramsey, Jack, Bosa.

Would be great to trade with the 49ers and still get Jack at 7
