Philip Rivers is more than capable of winning a Super Bowl in the foreseeable future. Yet, he needs much better play from the team's Offensive Line to have any chance of playing a meaningful game in February.exactly

Yep. Seems like Floyd and Stanley are the hot names going into the draft.

Hard me to believe that guys that were consistently viewed as a tier below the elite are all the sudden going to actually be picked top 5...so not sure I believe it.

They had OT's drafted in the teens and later.

I don't believe it.

It's a good point.
On the other hand, Offensive Tackle play cost the Patriots a chance at getting back to the Super Bowl this past season.
Though a team can win with a LT/ blindside Tackle who isn't taken in the top 5 picks, your chances of winning a Super Bowl are much greater when you have good pass blocking on the edge. Not to mention there's a greater chance your QB will stay off the injury report or worse.
Assuming the Chargers don't draft an Offensive Tackle with the pick # 3 draft resource, they probably won't get a better option this year than what's already on their roster. For a team that finished 31st in rushing in 2015 ( granted, injuries on the Offensive Line contributed to this but that's only part of the story ), they need a much better combination of balance and protection. If they don't get this, it's a matter of time before Philip Rivers is sidelined with a significant injury. With a golden opportunity to get a long term solution at LT, I believe the Chargers would be making a major mistake if they don't address that position with the pick # 3 draft resource.

Ironically, both of the top ten picks on that Saints SB team (Reggie Bush and Sedrick Ellis) were considered disappointments.

How naive are you? Is this your first draft? You can't read anything as being true the draft week. Just some random Hoopla to spark up clicks.

Did you forget about Blake Bortles? He was viewed as a late first round by most mock experts. In fact, find me a 2014 mock draft that had any team picking Blake Borltes in the top 5.

The field didn't have a guy that ran away with the QB race for months like Tunsil has either.

I had Blake Bortles going to the Browns with pick # 4. This was before the Sammy Watkins draft day trade:

You did. Probably would've happened that way if we didn't grab Blake ourselves.

Based on the mistakes the Browns made in the 2014 Draft, they certainly would have been far better off taking Blake Bortles.
With the trade, the 2014 combination of Anthony Barr and Teddy Bridgewater, both that ended up with the Vikings, would have been FAR better than the combo of Justin Gilbert and Johhny Manziel.
