Caldwell made a few short comments in this Ryan O'Halloran article (

Caldwell on Bosa: “He can fit in any defense — he could do either [the strong-side or weak-side end spots]. He can [be an interior pass rusher], too. You want to be careful – you want to settle him into one spot and get him comfortable doing that first [before moving him around].”

On Buckner: “He can play in any system. He could be a three-technique [tackle] for us, he could be a 4B [strong-side end] for us. He could play a six-technique [lined up outside the offensive tackle].”

On Jack: “He’s a rare athlete. Rare explosion. Great kid. Smart football player. Three-down player. We’ve talked about [strong-side linebacker]. He’s going to definitely be on the field as a rookie in nickel, which is 65 percent of the snaps. … He’s really good in coverage, but he has the skill set to be a blitzer.”

On Ramsey: “He has rare athleticism, length and speed. He’s physical. From a physical standpoint, he can do it all. He’s an A-plus kid.”

About the draft in general Caldwell said “There’s a lot of quantity,” Caldwell said of the draft’s defensive class. “There isn’t an overabundance of elite guys, but there’s a good quantity of really good players.

And Bradley added: Said coach Gus Bradley: “Without a doubt, every time we pick, there will be some good defensive players there. We’re going to have options. We’ll continue to have the mindset of taking the best player available. We have some needs, but we don’t want to get away from that part of it.”

He doesn't say much I know, aside from praising more Jack & Ramsey. Less than one week and we'll find out.

EDIT:
Adding some more comments about Jack and his knee:
Caldwell and Bradley traveled to UCLA to work Jack out privately on April 16. Jack’s final season ended in the third game when he injured his right knee. The true junior did not participate in the NFL Scouting Combine or at UCLA’s pro day, but is seven months removed from the injury.

“We’ve always scheduled that we would do it privately,” Caldwell said. “He looked good. We put him through linebacker drills, change of direction, drops, bag drills.”

Bradley was impressed with Jack, especially considering the fatigue he’s under from the draft process. Elite prospects travel to several teams for visits and conduct private workouts at home in addition to their training. Jack visited EverBank Field on April 5.

“I had a chance to visit with him for quite a while [at UCLA],” Bradley said. “We had some time here and then some time there, so that part was good. Then, we put him through position-specific drills that are really based on our scheme and I thought he did a really good job with that. He’s travelled a lot, so I was really impressed with him.”

Still think Jack is the guy assuming his knee checks out. The draft luncheon is today so maybe we will get a few more clues.

Was he asked about Tunsil?

If I take everything he stated, I think they love Jack; just from what was said. Now, the question is if they feel his injury is all-good now and if he'll be there at 5.

GO JAGS!!

Per Alfie:

Quote:When describing defensive lineman Joey Bosa and DeForest Buckner, Caldwell used the word "versatile" for both players and that they would be a fit in any system. When describing linebacker Myles Jack and defensive back Jalen Ramsey, Caldwell used the word "rare" to describe their athleticism and talked about their speed and explosion.

Now, the fun part of reading way too much into innocuous quotes.

It sure sounds like Jack and Ramsey are much higher on the Jaguars board than Bosa or Buckner, and that should not be a surprise at all. With Jack and Ramsey, Caldwell seemed to be glowing and excited to talk about them, whereas with Bosa and Buckner he was careful to say they can fit in any defense and that they were solid players.

We'll find out in 6 days...
Less than a week away!

It can't get here fast enough.

More comments about Jaguars staff on Jack, included his knee  (I added some of these on the first post of this thread): (article from Hays Carlyon)

It isn’t hard to spot the gleam in Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell and coach Gus Bradley’s eyes when UCLA outside linebacker Myles Jack’s name is mentioned.

The true junior has dazzled scouts with his athleticism on film. The Jaguars brass looks to be enamored as well with Jack’s ability to bring a unique combination of coverage and rush skills to a defense woeful on third down last season.

The Jaguars conducted their draft luncheon on Friday at EverBank Field and Caldwell and Bradley took dozens of questions about several players that could be options for the Jaguars with the fifth-overall pick in Thursday’s first round.

However, their responses to Jack (and body language) stood out.

Caldwell and Bradley traveled to UCLA to work Jack out privately on April 16. Jack’s final season ended in the third game when he injured his right knee. The true junior did not participate in the NFL Scouting Combine or at UCLA’s pro day, but is seven months removed from the injury.

Then, we put him through position-specific drills that are really based on our scheme and I thought he did a really good job with that. He’s travelled a lot, so I was really impressed with him.”

Jack, who doesn’t turn 21 until September, started 28 games for the Bruins, recording 178 tackles with four interceptions and 23 pass breakups.

The feeling from several reporters after the event was that Jack is their man.
Let's say that Jack is the guy. That's who they want and he's at the top of the board. Do we trade up to #3 to guarantee him? Or do we wait and hope he slides to us? I'm never a fan of moving up from a top 5 pick. But, "if" Jack is their guy and I'm such a huge fan of this kid, that I'm slowly thinking maybe we should. I'm not sure what we'd have to give up and if it included our 2nd Rounder, I'd probably say no. But man, I have a feeling he won't be there at 5. Either Dallas takes him or someone trades up above us and grabs him.....

GO JAGS!!

Doesn't seem like Caldwell is going to move up.  I thought he mentioned that briefly today, but I could be mistaken.  Either way, probably costs too much to move to #3.

Ok...am I the only one who sees Dave blowing so much smoke up Jerry Jones [BLEEP]?

Let me tell you guys 1 thing and that is the Jaguars will not take Jack. Caldwell is hyping this kid up so much to have either SD take him or DAL.

We are drafting Bosa, Ramsey, Hargreaves, or Tunsil.

I for one will be very happy to see Jack go somewhere else, he will get injured again. Also, if we take Buckner which is a possibility I lose my faith in Caldwell because he is a bust as well. Anyone remember the last time Oregon produced any good players?

It all depends on how much it cost to move up. Knowing that 2 qbs are going 1-2 and SD need for Tunsil, I think you stay put, hold onto the picks and go with Ramsey/Jack/Bosa/Buckner.

Hoping this is sarcasm.  From the whole Jack will get injured again to Oregon not producing good players, not sure where to start with this post...

Your hoping I'm being sarcastic about the two players in this draft that could and most likely will be rotational players with Jack not being in the League 5-6 years from now. And I will remember this and come back to it as proof.

Caldwell doesn't tip his hand this much. The person we take will be someone not talked about as much with us and you know it. He is trying to sell Jack as a do it all LB who can rush, what does Dallas need? Someone who can help them blitz the QB.

My Oregon comment stands pretty firm, in fact I will do research on previous drafts and show you Oregon's lovely products(sarcasm).
Despite all the film and production Buckner has to back him up, hes gonna be trash cause hes from oregon.

Back on the attack,

Okay I went to NFL.com looked at the past 5 years 1st round's

2010: Zero

2011: Zero

2012: Goose egg.

2013: Dion Jordan (we all know how great he is.)

Kyle Long - product of being in the long family, no help from Oregon.

2014: Zero again

2015: Mariota (unless your a tacks fan, you know realistically he is just a game manager.)

Arik Armstead - go ask SF if the want to re-do that one?

So, I think I made my point. Sorry if you think I'm just bashing one school but unless your coming from a Bigger named school you better be actually talented and not a product of scheme,Oregon has weak opponents so, therefore Buckner gets more credit than deserved. Smile

Ugh, fine I'll bite...

How exactly is Jack a rotational player?  If we draft him, he's going to be out there the majority of the snaps, Caldwell even said so in the quote from the OP.  And how is he not going to be in the league 5-6 years from now either?  If it's for medical reasons, I'm guessing you at least work on an NFL team's medical staff and have thoroughly looked at his x-rays and MRIs?

You don't even have to do research on a previous draft.  Here's the link.  Plenty of good Oregon players: http://espn.go.com/nfl/college/_/letter/o

That list is pretty damn ugly if you ask me, like I said rotational players is what Oregon produces. Ngata and Jonathan Stewart are the best on that list and I honestly wouldn't take either one at this stage in their careers over anyone on the Jags.

I meant Buckner in that instance.

As far as Jack, I have no proof besides what my gut and head tell me. Everyone says that he will come back just fine but I see him being like Lattimore and barely seeing the field. Or maybe I can give you an example thats closer to home. Marquise Lee, never can escape the injury bug, same with Derek Cox, my instincts are telling me Jack will be no different.

How is Jacks injury even close to Lattimore's injury?
Jack's injury is nothing like Lattimore's and in no way has he shown to be like Lee.  You're just taking a random guess which isn't based on anything realistic.

Not every school is going to have studs every single year.  Just because Buckner comes from Oregon shouldn't make any difference to his career.  Just because he chose that school and they recruited him he's done before he even starts?  Again, that makes no sense.  If you want to point out Buckner's flaws, I'm all ears, but saying he comes from this school, he won't be good isn't a solid argument.

I'm not trying to compare injuries which I figured someone was assuming.

My thought process is Jack will always be an injury prone player, which I just gave examples of. Another one is Austin Collie, all that fight to be concussed 4-5 times. Not the same injury I know, sometimes its just the person.
