If the gus bus leaves town im more than willing to let Vic Fangio run a 3-4
I don't know, I think Miller is a pretty nice nose.
When I started laying the players out I actually didn't realize it would look that good. In particular, that linebacking group would look nice. Telvin and Jack roaming the middle...Spence and Fowler off the edge.
I'm kinda sold actually.

Telvin Smith would be a disaster as a 3-4 LB...especially ILB.
If the Jags move down to garner additional picks, I think Spence is in play. However, I don't see Spence anywhere near pick 5.

Miller is one of the best nose tackles in the NFL.
I don't know if bringing on another Justin Blackmon is a good idea.. they even said his drug use wasn't his normal lifestyle.. he was "just partying"..... sounds like he might get a big Jaguars check and "Just go party", then get busted, then never see the field again. I don't think the reward is worth the risk... again. There are too many other safe options at other positions. Jacksonville seems to bring out the worst in players with baggage. Must be the beautiful weather.... :teehee:

Disagree. I think with a solid front 3, he would be just fine.

Miller was the best linemen on this team last year. He is a great nose.

Teams would run in his bubble the whole game. At 220 lbs, he can't be expected to consistently hold up against guards. He would be outweighed by most FBs/H-backs.
He would excel in space and on the edge. If you had to put him in a 3-4, he should be OLB.

he's not even 220 lbs... his playing weight is more like 205-210... which is kind of scary
You guys questioning Telvin's weight again huh?

what do you mean by questioning his weight?
we know what his weight is. despite his smallish frame, he is a great player for us in THIS defense. Now, would you play him as a MLB or an Otto? Probably not. His strength is playing in space and running.
There is a reason the coaching staff wants to get him a little heavier. I think if becomes a solid 225 and keeps his speed - that would be perfect.

"Which is kind of scary" is questioning his weight.

He would still be a heck of a player on ANY defense.

eh, whatever

of course - as long as you play to his strengths. which is my point.
putting him at MLB in a 3-4 would not maximize his potential. Yes, that includes his weight.

And he's listed at 223 pounds. Even if that's wrong, it's not 20 pounds off wrong.

you must not have heard his interviews with Jeff Lageman.

It's not about the size of the dog in the fight, it's about the fight in the size of the dog.

that's not how our positions are... there is no NT (Miller) first of all. Which is of incredible importance on this defense.
Spence at Otto? EH....
Jack at SS? Possibly could be a great fit there, but I would rather see him as our Bobby Wagner at MLB.
