Opinion piece.  Maybe Trump doesn't really want to become President.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/...ge%2Fstory

"It is possible that Trump began his presidential race as a lark, found an unexpected momentum and now realizes that the enterprise involves skills he does not possess. Trump’s actions (or lack of them) are consistent with this interpretation. A candidate who really imagined himself in the Oval Office would put together a campaign capable of counting delegates when it was early enough to matter. He would gather a serious policy operation that could form the core of a governing team. He would study up on obvious issues in preparation for obvious questions. Trump has done none of these things."

"Playing the victim is Trump’s most comfortable pose. Maybe, deep down, it is the role he desires."
He's been a Dem-churian Candidate all along.
Latest fox news poll has him up 18... If he didn't want to run he wouldn't have run.

His campaign strategy initially was built on national pressure and 100% name is. Cruz is making more of a fuss than anticipated, enter Paul manafort.

Delegates matter, don't get me wrong but as of now fox has kasich within the margin of error with Ted Cruz. Ted crux is in third place in NY and Pennsylvania. All the momentum willofficially be back with his campaign on tuesday.

Its still more probable than not that he gets to 1237 because the map of remaining states kills Cruz. Lewandowski just got charges dropped. Megan Kelly is lining up to do "the sit down."

I believe it

That's pretty much it.  I believe that he's a Clinton plant to ensure her coronation nomination as the democrat candidate as well as ensure that she gets to the White House.  Trumpettes like to ignore his ties to the Clintons, and his ignorance regarding the Colorado delegates pretty much shows that.

He was never in this to win.  He was only in this to shake up the GOP.  What wasn't expected (or maybe it was) was a candidate like Cruz who is "anti-establishment" being so strong of a contender.

I still see Rubio or someone like him being the eventual nominee.  The gamble is going to be, will the fringe (Trupmettes) support him as well as the real conservatives (Cruz supporters)?  Probably not.  Rubio will get much of the moderate vote, but I think that the fringe voters and conservative voters will probably stay home on election day.  That gives Hillary the Presidency.  Once that happens... God help us.

In other news, fears over the Martian invasion continue to grow due to...
A story was circulated similar to this awhile ago, the genesis of which was a piece written by an obscure former member of his early campaign team and generally disregarded. Still, all conspiracy theories aside, parts of it ring true.

What happened to the Bernie thread?

After 20 pages, it strayed across a line.

You have to admit, Trump's candidacy has transformed Cruz from Maverick Outsider into Party Hack.

He's also turned me into a Ted Cruz supporter. Well, not Trump alone, but his descent into the presidential equivalent of Jesse Ventura was kind of the last straw.
I do believe that the story will be told after April 26th.  At that point, it will most likely be nearly impossible for either leader to get the 1237 delegates needed for an outright win.  At that point, it will be clear that it's going to be a contested convention.  The date could possibly slip to May 10th or May 17th, but I don't think that it will go that far.

What will be really telling is what Trump does at that point.  Will he drop out and announce that he is running as an independent, or will he stick in there all the way up to the convention?  My guess is the former, and by design.  He wants to siphon off the republican vote in the general election.  By that point Hillary will have sewn up the democrat coronation nomination.  It will be interesting to see what Bernie Sanders supporters do at that point as well as what the socialist himself does.  Does he also try to run on an independent ticket as well?  Probably not.  If he does, then it could make for an interesting general election.  Trumpettes siphon off of the republican side while the "feel the bern" sheep siphon off of the democrat side.

Sanders has said several times that he won't run as an independent. No, I'm not looking it up right now. I'm doing 80mph somewhere in Louisiana. You source it.

Yeah, I may have had something to do with that...  Not sure what happened after my last post though.   Ninja

Perhaps shots were fired?  Who knows...   :whistling:

Let me teach you about the democrats...  Back in 2008, Hillary Clinton was supposed to be the nominee.  Her supporters were very upset, more than Bernie supporters are right now, as it became clear that Obama was gonna win.

Guess what happened?  Well, as this is your first year of following politics, I'll tell ya.  Obama won in a land slide.  All the Hillary supporters rallied around Obama.  Same thing is gonna happen here...  I can't stand Hillary Clinton.  But there's no way I'm voting for lyin' Ted Cruz...  Trump intrigues me, but I'm not a typical democratic voter...  If Trump wins the nominee, he's gonna get destroyed in the National.

Now, if you haven't noticed, the debates on the Democratic side, while somewhat heated, are not at the levels of Trump VS Cruz.  Or have you not figured that out yet either?

Seriously, it's getting really hard reading your posts as you appear to not really understand US politics at all.

Oh, by the way...  LOL at Rubio.  It shows how naive you are if you think Rubio has any chance of winning the nomination.  It's laughable how out of touch with politics reality you are.

Paul Ryan is the whisper candidate at this point.  Rubio lost FLORIDA.  Remember that?  He can't win his own state.  And you think he's gonna be the contested nominee?  LOL, silly child.

Listen kiddo... I've been involved/followed politics for several years.

First of all, the reason that Obama won the democrat nomination is because the democrat party rejected Hillary, much like most of them are doing now.

Obama won the general election for a few reasons.  1) the vote was basically "against Bush".  2) the republican party ran a very weak candidate.  Finally 3) there was such an "importance" for a black man to be elected President.  I wouldn't exactly call his win a "landslide" though.

Also, Paul Ryan has explicitly said that he will not accept the nomination.  FACT.  The republican party has made it clear that they don't want Donald Trump.  FACT.  The republican establishment isn't very fond of Ted Cruz.  FACT.

While yes, I do support Rubio, I consider him to be the likely nominee in the convention over any others.  I don't believe that the republican party would dare nominate someone like Bush or Kasich.  Feel free to provide evidence otherwise.

Getting back to the point of this thread, it sure looks like Trump is doing exactly what he intended to do... that being shaking up the republican party enough to ensure a Hillary coronation nomination and path to The White House.

I'm not sure what this is all about, but TAM has either been off his meds or hitting the bottle too much lately.
