We will be a much improved team. We can't really predict how much better we will be but we will be better. This game is winnable. We should have the better defense. Our offense pretty much matches up with theirs. Contain Rodgers and we win the game. Packers usually start the season slow. We will have a better picture after the draft and preseason.
Statement game. Time to nut up.
Quote:The Packers O-Line is certainly not "pretty good" when healthy, unless you have a very generous definition of "pretty good". Also, they were already going to be thin on the DLine before the Raji announcement because of the Pennel suspension. Guion is okay, but certainly nothing special.
I'd consider every single starter on the offensive line to be at least average. Bahktiari, Linsley, and Lang are all solid starters, Bulaga is above average, and Sitton is a great guard. Would I call them great? No, but as a whole they are pretty good.
Very tough game. Packers are very good on offense, especially with Nelson back, and solid on defense.
This is a statement game. If we're for real, we win this game someway, somehow. No more late game losses.
A 1:00 pm game. Let's hope it's 93 that day and they wilt in the second half.
It's week 1 guys. I'd much rather play them week 1 then mid-season/late in season when they are rolling on all cylinders. Not an ideal way to start the season but I think this is the best time to face them.

Week 1 of last year Jaguars lost at home to Carolina Panthers (NFC Champions), while Packers won on the Road against the Bears. When you think of the Packers you probably think of Aaron Rodgers throwing 50 yard successful Hail Marys and dread the passing game but they were 12th in rushing & the Packers finished first in the NFL against the Run. To me their defense is what allows the Packers to win so many games every year as Defense always wins games. The Jaguars had a very slow start to their offense last season but now in their 2nd year with OC Greg Olson, and DC Todd Wash being promoted along with key players now being healthy this matchup will be much closer than many might think. It is very hard to guess which teams will win this season especially before the draft has even occurred, and yes many will predict that Packers to win this game (unless they are Jaguar homers)... doh
I am a homer, so yeah Jaguars win it.
That stretch from week 9 to week 15 will be particularly brutal (not to mention facing Khalil Mack week 7). Bortles will be facing some really good D-lines. Almost convinces me that we should continue to invest in O-lineman in the draft post round 1 for insurance purposes. You can't have enough protection.
Quote:Well, Spunky, your or my prediction would be worth a can of warm spit at this point.
Is that why you come here?To impress us with predictions? Do you think anyone cares what your opinion is? The least you could do is attempt a little humor or insight. And no, the inane ice cream stuff is not considered humor to anyone over eight years old. But keep trying. I'm sure your parents would rather you be on a message board instead of bothering them.
Jerrad brings insight and humor in his posts. You just don't happen to agree with his insight or appreciate his humor. Yeah, the ice cream stuff is old, but he didn't bring that up in this thread.
He, like many on this board and most of the rest of the NFL, think Gus sucks. Sure, he might be able to keep a team happy, but whisking a truckload of hookers into the locker room after every game could have achieved the same results and cost much less money.
Khan bought a brand new pool table and had Caldwell rack 'em, but his cue ball was defective and he scratched on the break. It happens. Thankfully, those are easily replaced.

Tough schedule, but it seems every year is a tough schedule from a fans perspective.

Jarrad is a one-tick pony who lacks imagination or insight, with a third-grade level of humor. But that's just me. If ice cream humor and saying the same thing over and over and over is your thing, you've found your boy. I find him silly and boring.
And, may I ad, I love the way you make the leap from "like many on this board" (what, eight or nine guys?) to "most of the rest of the NFL" about Gus sucking. Feel how you feel, but when people like your boy Jarrad can't make a post without reminding us of his Gus Issue, it smacks of desperation and redundancy.
But, if you're into redundancy ...

Von Miller tends to play on the S/LOLB and at LT will be Beachum hence why Luke is up on the trade block. Trust me Lewis will be on the right side to help double team Von.
Yeah, most of the top pass rushers on teams generally go against the RT. Parnell can hold his own against a lot of these guys. Sure, they'll get him a time or two at least because they are premier talents, but Parnell is a beast at RT. Keep a TE in to help at times too.

Ok cleetus, I'm trying to find where you provided insight on this topic. All you've been doing is crying about my posts.
Do you think we will beat Green Bay week 1? Obviously alot can change from now until game time. But right now we look over matched in talent and coaching ability.
If I had to guess, I would say GB squeaks out a win on a game winning FG. A lot can happen from now and then though.

I hadn't considered that. Excellent point, and it could work to our advantage.
Quote:Statement game. Time to nut up.
Pretty much
If you have to play a team at home, I would rather play a northern team like the packers early in the season while we still have our summer heat. That at least gives you the most favorable conditions.

My take on the Packers Offensive Line is pretty much along the lines as what you expressed. The only two differences to some extent are I probably would rate Josh Sitton a half a peg lower and I would put the other two Packers interior Offensive Line on a similar level as B. Bulaga,
Like you mentioned, from my point of view the Packers Offensive Line when they have all their pieces at a relatively healthy level is better collectively than the individuals parts. Other than Bulaga, all of their starters are former mid round picks. That's the part of the draft that G.M. Ted Thompson probably does his best work.
