The Oreo Blizzard at Dairy Queen is pretty good.

Quote:

"We had a team meeting when we initially started training camp and we talked, our objective is to build a team that owns the AFC South. And that means year-in and year-out, we're owning the AFC and the South division."

"This year, we built the team. It's built and it's time"

-2015

This is the actual quote:

We had a team meeting when we initially started training camp and we talked, 'Our objective is to build a team that owns the AFC South,'" Bradley said at a kickoff luncheon inside EverBank Feld. "And that means year-in and year-out, we're owning the AFC and the South division. That was our mindset.

"And I said, 'This year, we built the team. It's built and it's time,' and our players need to have that mentality."

He's talking about speaking to his players in one of first meetings of the season to get them in the right frame of mind. He's says 'mindset' and 'mentality' because it was about instilling confidence by getting them to believe that. It's not the case that he was just announcing to the world that the team was built and they were 'there.'

That being said, I absolutely think this team will be built by time we start the season. Assuming another good draft, which we will have, along with the bolstering through free agency, there will be significant upgrades to the roster across the defense and offensive line. Adding two or three rookie starters, James Sample, Dante Fowler, Senderrick Marks, Tashaun Gipson, Prince Amuakamura and Malik Jackson represents a complete overhaul of the defense. We should have a very balanced team and arguably the best roster on paper this team has ever seen.

Nice spin, but if you bother to look, I didn't mis-quote a thing.

Note the word "and" highlighted.  This wasn't hyperbole or show on his part.  Only if you remove the "and," your spin on it would be accurate.

This was no sales pitch to the team.  This was their true belief AND the pitch to the team.
Quote:So their intentions is to have a person they think is a bad coach develop their team.

Pretty stupid assertion.

I don't know that they think he's going to develop anyone at this point. What player has he developed so far?
Quote:I don't know that they think he's going to develop anyone at this point. What player has he developed so far?
Right, so they have him just for the sake of having a bad coach.

Makes perfect sense.

And if you don't know the up and coming players on this roster, then you are far too ignorant for me to bother to list them for you. It's not like we don't have multiple young players being nationally recognized.
Quote:Gus can keep the players happy no matter what. He is the ideal coach of a team that has no chance of winning. Now it's time for a coach who puts winning as the top priority.

There's no excuse for 5-11 vs. last season's schedule where over half the games were against QBs who were backups, former career backups who recently became starters for lack of a real franchise QB, or rookies. That includes all six games against our division opponents.
Wait, you mean they fired Gus before making this huge investment in free agency? Because there is no reason they would do this if they weren't expecting it to have a huge impact on winning games and according to you, they have no expectations of winning with Gus as coach.

Do you guys even listen to how stupid you sound?
I'm about 60% sure that we're 91% built.

So you have nothing relevant or insightful to post and instead double down on stupidity.

Like I said, if Gus is the guy that's going to get the team over the hump then tell us who he's developed so far to make you think he can make players play better? Telvin? He's still the same guy he was the first day he stepped on the Jaguars field. Marks? Maybe, but more likely he was always good but was put in the wrong position in tennessee. Colvin? Another one of those guys who is still the same guy he was when he got here. Don't even mention the guys on offense, they weren't developed by a defensive coach.

My best guess about why they kept Gus is because they wanted another high draft pick to accumulate talent before they turn the team over to someone of Harbaugh's ability to start going to Superbowls.
This team is built to win now.  All teams have weaknesses or areas of opportunity.  The free agents brought in using significant dollars, especially on defense, were not developmental guys.

I thin 8 wins is the minimum number for Gus to keep his job
There's no way to know until we see them play some games. Having all of the pieces and making them all fit are two different things. There were some games last year that we were the better team but we still couldn't find a way to win.

So lets say that he thought that things looked a bit grimmer after the loss of Fowler, the injuries to Branch and Thomas, and the continued unavailability of folks like Marks and Lee. Are you saying that if he thought their chances dimmed a bit he should have gotten up at the kickoff luncheon and said, "yeah, I thought we were built, but hey, we got dinged up more than expected, and so we are screwed? Plus, that was a bit of a push goal anyway, folks. Enjoy the chicken!". Come on, I imagine you have seen him speak at some of these events, you know the drill. Gus is a rah-rah guy.

All you have is excuses and complete fabrication.

Telvin, Marks, Hurns, Bortles Robinson all got better under Gus no matter how much you want to fabricate the truth.

And thinking they extended Gus to get a better draft pick just shows how much of a mental midget you are with a very fitting name  LOL!

But feel free to keep making things up if it helps you sleep better at night. It's not against the law to be a complete moron so have at it.

Like I said, don't even bring up offensive players, Gus benefitted from a WRs coach that he didn't even hire, and Bortles has been groomed by the offensive staff, not Gus. Gus wasn't even intelligent enough to notice that Fisch had no business anywhere near an NFL offense.

Telvin, still the same guy he's always been, fast, plays with effort, can't cover. Marks is the only guy that can have an argument made for him because he wasn't productive in tennessee, but he was also a high draft pick. They played him out of position. I'd credit Caldwell with finding someone that fit Gus's 1+1 defensive answer before I'd credit Gus with actually developing a player.

Really it's pretty silly that you're accusing me of fabrication. Gus has literally shown nothing in three years to show he's a difference making, or even decent head coach, yet here we are with people like you saying the equivalent of "lol, if wayne hired and extended him then Gene Smith must be great," just with Gus instead of Gene.

Offense, defense, special teams it doesn't matter. They all developed under his tenure, period.

You can sit there and pick and choose in order to put all the blame on Gus and all the credit elsewhere like a babbling moron if you want, but it still doesn't change the fact that they developed under the leadership of Gus.

And that also doesn't change your utter stupidity that you think they extended Gus to purposely make the team play worse. That alone shows you lack the mental acuity to try to debate even a 5 year old on a public form.

There are a lot of reasons to dislike Gus, so it's pretty pathetic when someone is so stupid they have to fabricate facts just to make an argument against Gus.

To sum your argument up: "You're stupid, and I think your cynical guess at why Gus may have been kept is wrong, therefore Gene Smith is great because he was hired and extended." (to once again draw a parallel between the "in gene we trust" crowd and the "Gus must be great" crowd)

Do you realize how imbecilic you're coming across? Of course not, if you could then you'd likely have already stopped arguing.
Hopefully Gus has learned how to be a better coach over these last 3 years. This could be his last chance at a head coaching job so hopefully he has improved as a coach

Like I said any of that.

Again, the only way you can put forth an argument is to make things up, Pathetic and dim witted.

When you paint it that way, Oreos are a little overrated as a snack.

actually, a stack of oreo's and a glass of cold milk sound pretty good to me.
