Just watched the Florida spring game. Now I know why they let will walk!

The future is bright again in Gainesville.


Del Rio did what a quality starter should do against backups. Appleby was ok. Trask is very advanced for a true freshman. Franks is where I thought he'd be considering where he came from. He will have to redshirt.

I know it was against the second team but accuracy is accuracy. It was a good first step.

I just think it's great that a kid most of us watched grow up on the practice fields during training camp, running around as a gopher, running the golf cart from tower to tower to get the film, and tossing the football on the field, is now the front runner for the Gators starting QB gig. 

Jack was there a couple of weeks ago with Gene Hackmen again.

HA !!   Maybe if 2-star Trask or 4-star Feleipe Franks pan out in a few years.   LDR was a freaking walk-on at Bama and Appleby got benched in favor of a RS Freshman at Purdue.

LDR walked on at Bama as a true freshman and by season's end was the backup. At least according to him (April 14, 2014 interview with The Oregonian). He must have done something right. Considering the garbage bama has had since McCarron left, I have little doubt he would have started.

 

Also, stars mean nothing when it comes to high school quarterbacks. In the last two NFL drafts, the overwhelming majority of QBs drafted were 3 stars or under. Recruiting services almost always grade QBs wrong.

I would guess that at least half of the QB's drafted this year (Hackenberg, Goff, Driskel, Kessler, Brandon Allen) were rated pretty highly. And I don't know the exact number in the last two drafts but Winston, Hundley, Bridgewater, Manziel, Tom Savage, Aaron Murray, McCarron and Mettenberger were all highly rated too.
