Remember the 2014 draft where everyone was all but sure the Jags were taking either Kahlil Mack or Sammy Watkins and Caldwell fleeced the entire nation when Bortles name was called instead?
Could that happen again this year? Who's your out of left field, shocking dark horse who could have serious consideration at #5?

Considering what this team did in free agency, it's obvious they'll be addressing edge rusher early in this draft, I think they're eyeing Bosa in the 1st but will likely have to jump Dallas to select him. This years "surprise" could be trading up to 3 to secure Bosa.
Dave isn't trading up from 5. I see zero scenarios where that happens
I don't think there's a "guy" that he could possibly have in mind above and beyond the others like Bortles.
We don't need a franchise QB, and there's a handful of guys with a seemingly similar high grade available to us.
I don't think there's a "lose" pick, nor do I think there's a "must have" pick where we select this year. Looks to me like at "worst" we still end up with a great pick.
Bortles was a surprise but not shocking since we had an obvious need at QB. I'm not sure of something comparable in this draft.
Highest rated player I'd be surprised at would be Stanley or Tunsil. I can't really see us going that route

This^
Edge rusher is decent this year, so even at a lower pick in the 1st we could still succeed. With that said, we would trade down instead of up in any scenario this yr 10x out of 10.
I think this year we are sure we need to fix the front 7 with the 1st round. In 2014 we needed help everywhere so it was hard to pinpoint 2-3 prospects that we could have picked. This year we know it could be Ramsey, Jack, or Bosa. Surprise to me would be Hargreaves at 5.

What if GM Dave Caldwell traded down and drafted FL CB Vernon and then traded again to get back in the first round to draft LE Kevin Dodd*, Clemson ?
I guess that isn't really a shocking move though, and he said he was going to focus on Defensive side of the ball in this draft... so the only shocking thing would be if he went offense maybe in the first round and
drafted LT or RB Ezekiel Elliott... that would be a shocker... but highly unlikely..

Dodd probably won't even go in round 1
I think they may draft VH3 at number 5 overall if Ramsey or Jack aren't there.
It would make sense because of what Caldwell had preached from day 1. Top draft picks need to be at Impact positions. He got his LT, QB, DE... The next logical thing would be a playmaker on defense (check) at a premier position (check).
I think Vernon Hargreaves may just be that guy.
DeForset Buckner, Shaq Lawson, Ronnie Staley, Sheldon Rankins

I think you miss spelled Bosa

I disagree... Edge rusher is definitely an priority but Dante fills that void respectfully. Let's consider the overall needs. PR @ #1, done deal in Jr. Acquiring an LB that can play the run and is excellent in pass coverage is priceless. Miles Jack must be penciled in. It'll be a crap game in 2016 to find a LB within the later rounds of Jack's abilities while we can definitely find An Additional PR to compliment Jr. within rounds two to three.
Pass coverage LB first and PR second... IJS...

Uhhh Dodd will be a top 25 pick....... Better go watch that "Tape" Some more
I agree with SuperJVille. VH3 would be the Bortles-equivalent this year.
Bortles was often mocked to go high in the draft (and sometimes to us) and wasn't completely out of the picture when we picked him- we just expected it to be Mack or Watkins.
VH3 seems to be around the same mark - considered to be good (and maybe the best at his position) but overlooked as a top five pick.
I can't see anyone outside Bosa, Ramsey, Jack, Buckner or VH3 being our pick though (barring a trade down).
I would be happy with Vernon some say he's Haden in this year's draft.

Why did you put "tape" like that?
I doubt Dave has a trick up his sleeve. in 3 of his 4 drafts, it's been pretty clear who he is going to choose. The one year that was a surprise was Bortles but when you love a QB, you go and get them at any cost.
I think this year will be like most of the others in that it's fairly obvious: Bosa or Jack. Bosa helps with the pass rush and Jack is our hybrid LB who can cover. We didn't address the LB position at all during FA so it makes sense to draft the best prospect in this years class and a player who has the potential to be elite. We get burned so often by TEs so this all but cleans that up.
Ronnie Stanley is the only pick that would truly surprise me.
