Quote:Like others have mentioned, I'd love to get him in round 2 if possible. Way too big of a risk with the 5th overall pick after the Blackmon debacle.
That said, it's not like ecstasy's an addictive drug that people get hooked on. It's just a college party drug. A recreational thing some people try a few times then move on to just drinking or whatever.
Hence the huge red flag hanging over his head.
Im still tempted at taking him, Im pretty sure Id pull the trigger in the second. I dont think Id trade back up into the first for him tho.
I think with Spence it's not a question of him being an addict or doing something truly awful, it's more of a question of his judgement and the people surrounding him.
He failed drug tests on more than one occasion and while a lot of young people will have done the same as him, he must have known (or should have known) that his future career would be at risk by taking the drugs - just seems a stupid risk to take when he knew he would be tested.
To an extent we'd have to take it on trust that he won't do something stupid again, but hopefully we will do some proper digging into his personal circumstances if we are serious about drafting him.

There was also an arrest for public intoxication.
But beyond the off the field stuff, he only ran a 4.8 at the Combine, which is very slow for a small defensive end, and he only jumped 35 inches, which is just below par for his position. So the question is, is he really that special as a player.
It's possible he could drop to the 3rd round.

I'm guessing not.
a 35 inch vert is not subpar
I'd feel good going into the season with Fowler and Spence as our edge rush.
If we could pull off a draft with the first three rounds looking like this: 1) Jack 2) Spence 3) BAP OG/OC
Man oh man. Dave could then sit back and just go BAP the rest of the way and all of our holes will pretty much be filled.

He threw a beer bottle at a trash can while walking down the street, missed, and a cop saw it. It's not a big deal.
I'd be very disappointed if he falls to the Jags in the 2nd and they pass on him. Especially if Bosa isn't the first round pick.

If he falls to the 2nd and we don't draft him, then I'll just assume he offered Dave esctasy during their interview.

That's right forgot we're playing basketball
