This is my guy. I think he would be the perfect OTTO (sorry) in our scheme. Rush the passer, drop in coverage. I would love to see us grab him in the 2nd round (don't think he'll last until the 3rd), particularly if we end up with Bosa or Ramsey in the first.

What do you guys think about Correa as a prospect in our defense?
didn't you already make this thread

Don't know much about him, to be honest. Watched a quick highlight film. He looks like Skuta a little bit, but with a more pass rusher type of build I guess. I'm all for taking a couple LBs in this draft. We are major thin at that position, specifically depth wise.
He definitely has some impressive cutups, but man he is a bad athlete. After Cravens and Scooby Wright he was probably the most disappointing athlete at the combine.

I couldn't pull the trigger on him at 38 after that, but maybe at 69 if he's there.

No I did not.

Got anything to add or.......?

You know, you are complaining about him not being an athlete enough, guys in the Ramsey thead complaining that he is too much of an athlete and not a player.

I'm kinda sick at looking at players through the "athlete" lense. Does he look the part? Does he fill a niche? Do we have a need?

If he's a player, he's a player. I don't need him to be all Olympic team. Just make plays, regardless of your shuttle time. He looks like he could make plays for us.
Not a big fan of Boise St players, they always overachieve in college.
From everything I'm hearing, don't be surprised if he is off the board in the first.

Everything you're hearing recently? I heard a lot of 1st round talk pre combine, but haven't heard it since.

Ryan Clady,George Iloka,Doug Martin and Demarcus Lawrence beg to differ.

Athleticism simply lets you cover up a multitude of sins that a guy who is only a 20% SPARQ athlete like Correa won't be able to. As a bottom quarter NFL athlete he's going to have to be darn near flawless everywhere else just to stick in the league, much less make the impact you'd expect from a day 2 pick. It's possible, Nuk Hopkins is one of the very few star players who also scored in the 20th percentile, but it's rare.
Great motor, plays faster and more explosive than his combine indicates.

Whatever did teams do back in the day before sparq was around? How did anyone ever find good players!?

There's a Correa to Steelers rumor going around currently.
He also improved his numbers at pro day, 34 (vs 33 at combine) vertical inch, 9.9 broad jump (vs 9 at combine), 6.78 3 cone drill and 4.15 shuttle and apparently looked good at the drills.

Don't want to be THAT guy, but almost everyone improves at their pro day.

SPARQ rating is something Nike invented for their HS football camps. And I'm pretty sure it involves a medicine ball toss. So where are you getting your "data" from?
It's silly to measure players solely on their combine numbers. That's not how football is played. Plenty of players with super human athletic traits that have succeeded and failed and plenty of players with below average traits that have succeeded and failed.

Put the tape in and see if the kid is a player. None of us are experts so no one can say with 100% certainty that he will be good or not. If Dave thinks he can be an effective edge rusher then he should pick him in the 2nd (if we dont take Bosa at 5).

He is probably a strong candidate to be taken if the Jaguars don't select Jack in the first. Based on what has been said about Correa, I would be happy with this pick. However, if Ramsay is the pick, I would have to find a LEO in the 2nd or possibly give up some picks to move up for Lawson, Spence or Dodd.

Are you taking into account his spider chart?  Or is it just sparq percentiles this year?

Will it be the dragon chart next year?
