This isn't surprising, given Jack's athleticism, the Chargers view him the same way. Here's the excerpt from the article

"Speaking of Jack, he said this week that the San Diego Chargers view him as a safety and not a linebacker. When we spoke recently, Jack told me the Jacksonville Jaguars would also like to use him in a hybrid safety/linebacker role. That line between in-the-box strong safety and linebacker is blurring. Players like Deone Bucannon are drafted for their versatility while veterans like Mark Barron are moved from safety to linebacker and put into a role they can succeed in. Jack—and to some extent Jalen Ramsey—are the same way. We get too caught up in sticking players into a position, when the NFL today is all about matchups and being able to erase a playmaker on offense. Jack allows you to do that both at linebacker and at safety".

I mean, Dave or Gus said that in their combine press conferences too haha.

Bradley a trend setter, our defense is going to set off a new trend that will have every team copying us. A huge 240lb hard hitting safety.

With the 5th pick in the NFL draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select... Myles Jack, defensive weapon from UCLA.

I still think Jack goes to Dallas. I would be more than happy with Bosa though. Number 1 prospect on pff, Woo hoo

I didn't see the press conference, can you link? If we draft Jack I'm assuming he and Sample will play interchangeable roles, I can see Jack playing closer to the LOS (at linebacker) on 1st and 2nd down and moving to safety on obvious passing situations, let him blanket TE's (similar to how the Chiefs use Eric Berry). In this situation Sample would move to the Mike linebacker role on obvious pass downs, giving our front 7 more speed and athleticism, this would be ideal.
Yeah, him playing SS or every LB position wouldn't be shocking.  Move him around and get him involved in every play somehow.

That can't happen. I need him to play one position in Madden.

The "Shoelace Eraser"
I wonder where that leaves Cyp.

If we're planning to introduce a SS/LB hybrid role, he'll have to start stepping into a LB position at times and the indication previously has been that the front office aren't considering him for that.

Well done.
Maybe they see Myles Jack as their Cam Chancellor
If that is the case wouldnt we. Try to trade up to grab him? Knowing he could be the pick for the chargers.

Just because the Chargers view him that way doesn't mean they view him as a fit in their scheme, or the player they want to pick at 3.

This is true.

Cyp was the 2nd worst PFF graded safety in the entire league last year, who cares about where it might leave Cyp.
He's really a prototype strong safety. I've been trying to avoid it because I like sample. Myles would be an all pro af that spot. Him playing mlb has always been a reach, he doesn't have the instincts or technique
If he gets drafted here, I hope he gets a few looks at RB. A goal line set with Beachum at TE, Alualu at FB, and Jack at RB could be fun.

We have Ivory for those short yardage situations, keep Jack on defense.

It's obvious that Gus & Dave get their info from Bleacher Report. B)
