There are 32 team and Cyp can't even make the top 35 SS list.   Ouch!

And ranks 78th on their overall safety rankings list.  Ouch!

Ouch. Karl Joseph anyone?

Please
Sample will get a chance first. We won't draft a safety unless it's Ramsey who can be used in any secondary spot due to his versatity.
I knew he was bad but damn!

Yeah, I dont think Dave will draft a safety either.   We can only hope Sample is who they thought he is when they drafted him.
Cyprien has sucked since we drafted him.  I am not surprised

Where are all those people who said he was very promising after year 1 and even some after year 2?

If Joseph is there in round 2, I beg to differ.
Coming from the same place that claimed Colvin was the 17th best CB last year and that Gratz was better than House? .... lol, ok.

Like him, or hate him, Cyprien has never been used how he should be. Anybody with eyes has always known that he has no business dropping into coverage much as a single high, or even a cover 2 safety. He has always excelled as basically a 4th LB. Just about any time he has made a splash play, it was when he was up in/around the box.

With that said, Sample will get every chance to beat out Cyp and it will probably be the biggest battle this coming season (LT spot is up there as well obviously). I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Sample win the job, but I also wouldn't be surprised to see Cyp win out either. Cyp has a huge experience edge and I believe they'll finally use him how he's suppose to be used this year. We finally have a true FS in Gipson.

Still though, even in that same role, I think Sample has a little bit more range and the dude is built like a LB. Dude is all sorts of jacked.

I like Karl Joseph, but taking another SS in the 2nd round would be awful in my opinion.

I don't know, Eric1, given that Cyprien is awful at it and Sample has only played a few games, I see SS as a position of need. We don't even know if Sample is any good- of course, we don't know about Karl Joseph or any other rookie either but SS is not a strength IMO.

I think the only "plays" I remember Cyprien making are just tackles he actually wrapped up on.
Cyp had a down year... he'll bounce back.

Or according to new rumors... maybe he is relegated to a back up role behind our Jack "of all trades" LB/SS/Hybrid 1st rounder...

that being said... bleacher report ranks these guys this way

walter does it another way

and PFF probably has their views...

Every position is upgradeable until it isn't.

And every position can't be upgraded every offseason.

If Cyp @ SS is our biggest worry going into the season, I'll be darned OK with it.

Put it this way, SS is the weakest link in the secondary imo. Hopefully Sample can make an impact and win the job. There is no doubt he is better in coverage than Cyp but can he play better ib the box and be a force against the run? Hopefully

Oh he'll bounce back, alright.  He does that nearly every time he tries to tackle someone..

Killebrew is the answer, imo, and won't require a 2nd rd pick.
