Full Version: Hypothetical trade down scenario

Let's say the below is the top 4

1. TEN - Tunsil

2. CLE - Goff

3. SD - Ramsey

4. DAL - Bosa

The Jags are sitting at 5 with a shot at Myles Jack. But the Eagles call and offer the 8th pick plus a 3rd rounder. They want to jump the Niners to get a QB.

So you move down three spots, picking up an extra third but probably lose Jack.

It plays out like this.

5. PHI - Wentz

6. BAL - Buckner

7. SF - Jack

Is it worth the extra pick (possible ammo to move up in the second) to miss out on Jack?

As for getting a third, keep in mind the Eagles do not have a second and in 2012, the Jaguars moved from 7 to 5 and only gave up a fourth round pick.

And at that point, you shift from talking about the "top tier" of prospects (Tunsil, Jack, Bosa, Ramsey) to the second tier (Hargreaves, Lawson, Stanley, Elliott)

Personally I would rather take Jack than gain a 3rd rounder.
If Jack is there, take him. Hands down, drop the mic...........

GO JAGS!!

Trading down and gaining additional picks we could have

William Jackson III..........Fowler,Marks,Jackson,Noah Spence............Prince

..............................Telvin, Poz, Jaylon Smith

.....................................Gipson, Cyprien

I don't see this trade happening.  Maybe if the Eagles still had their second rounder.

Not to me.

I think Jack is a potential superstar and a difference maker on a defense sorely lacking them, for a franchise that has lacked a true superstar at LB from its inception.

Now the next tier would be Lawson, Stanley and VH3, and those might be good players.

But we've got potential superstars on offense.  We need them on defense, too.

Do you think it is because it's not enough for them to move down, or do you think it's because the Eagles don't have the ammunition to feel comfortable moving up?
I'd take Jack personally.  Now if he was gone along with everyone else (aside from Goff), I'd be more apt to do it.

I would need more if Jack is the player I want and may miss out on. Either an additional 3rd from next year or a 4th in this year's draft. And I'm tempted to ask for more.

No...I will ask for more since they are trading for a QB. Since they won't have the ammunition I need to make the trade I'll probably pass.
Only a 3rd? They want their franchise QB. Make them pay. This years 2nd and 4th plus next year 1st. I would want all that... Especially if Jack is on the board.

I'd take vh3 all day right there. Great value with the extra pick and look to move back up for Spence.

That's in that scenario, but ideally I'd want more than just the third to drop down.
