Quote:One question, how many times has the defense put the offense in a position to win the game?

Seemed like pretty much every game last year. Offense couldn't get out of it's own way and always shot themselves in the foot somehow.
Quote:Giants game a couple years ago
Defense helped in that game. How many sacks and fumble recoveries did they get. There is always another 10 people on the field. One person cannot win the game. So 0 times.

That's a lie
Quote:Just out of curiosity out of all his starts how many of them has Bortles just taken control of the game like a franchise QB and lead us to victory? I think of the December game against Tennessee first but I'm trying to think of others.

Bills game last year too
So much hate for Bortles lately... He had a good year and then a bad year... Now he is working on getting better while Coughlin saves the franchise. There isnt a better option so why not give him a chance. Its like people forget the Gabbert years. It could be alot worse

The game where he had 126 passing yards and we lost the game?

I meant 2015. Still getting used to the whole 2017 thing

There's a lot more hate for critical analysis and rational thought around here than there is for Bortles.

Lol wrong.

It was equal parts of everything and everybody. This team found a way to lose, in multiple different ways this past season.

Whether it was Defense jumping off sides at awful times, the QB throwing pick sixes, WRs causing INTs, RBs fumbling on goal lines, Defense blowing multiple score leads, etc etc. It was always something different, each and every game last season.

True but you can't say the defense didn't put the offense in position to win games when the offense struggled dearly sustaining drives last season. You can't blame the defense when they are gassed out because they are always on the field.

Agreed, but if Bortles ever (in his entire career here so far) had any source of a running game, it might be easier for the Offense to sustain drives.

It all goes full circle back to football being the ultimate team sport. The QB gets way too much praise when teams win and they get way too much blame when teams lose.

This team just flat out didn't know how to win games this past season, in all areas and it showed. They never could get out of their own way.

I mean, just look at the punt returners for example. Last season (two seasons ago) I think we were all holding our breath whenever Greene would field a punt, in hopes he would take it too the house.

This season, I know I was holding my breath every time him or Walters fielded a punt. Not because I thought maybe they'd take it too the house, but because I was afraid they were going to muff it, like they did multiple times.

Preach my brother but let him tell it's Blake's fault when all I've been trying to say is a lot of things on this team has gone wrong including him. I blame everything on the coaching because Gus Bradley set up a losing environment where winning did not matter at all.
Oh by the way he won the Colts game this year in London.

Where did I say in this thread it's all Bortles fault? You gotta chill dude you're acting like you're Blake's mom the way you get on people about him on here.

If Rashad Greene never returns a punt again that will be fine by me. At least Walters has hands.

But I do agree about the running game. I don't think it's much Ivory or Yeldon either. I don't even think it's that much the players on the actual o-line. I expect pretty much all of them to start for us next to Albert aside from maybe a new LG. I think it's the coaching. When Marrone took over some how we could magically run the ball and open lanes. Gus was very "do it one way" kind of guy. Marrone wasn't afraid to move guys around and do different things to create separation and open lanes.

And I'm on the Fournette train myself at number 4.

I don't know how many games he's won but how many games has the defense lost over the last 5 years?  You can't win when your defense is 25th in the league in points allowed.  You think TC spent $150 in FA on defensive players cause he likes blowing Khan's money?

It's not just Bottles the D always gives up TDs when the other team needs to score and open up.

I like Yeldon and Ivory. They're two different style of runners and match up well together. Neither are special at the position, but few are. I'm not against adding another RB to the mix though. You have to assume one of your RBs are going to get banged up during the season. That's just the game.

The biggest issue with the running game imo is, way too many times the OL got beat at the point of attack. The opposing DL was in the back field far too many times on run plays. I can't even remember how many times Yeldon turned a should have been 4 yard loss, into a 1 or two yard gain. That one or two yard gain doesn't look all that pretty, but most people forget it could have been a negative rush instead.

It wont matter who the RB is on this team, if the OL doesn't get stronger off the LoS in the run blocking. Every RB will struggle if they constantly have defenders in their face, 3-4 yards behind the LoS.
Quote:The Miami Dolphin game in 2015. Now try to find a complaint in that game.

I thought Odrick had alot to do with that win, vs his former team.

Here is the list for 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives by QBs listed in order:

Several past Jags QBs are on this list including Brunell, Gabbert and even the current backup Henne.

I'm not Blake's mom, girlfriend, or family member but it gets tiresome and annoying when Blake is the main theme of why this team is losing but not bring other factors into the equation. Like I said many times this fan base is clearly suffering from losing seasons syndrome and Blake has become the ire of people frustration which is not right. Blake Bortles has regress last year but from the moment he became the starter of this franchise he was setup to fail. Is like you and others take your criticism of Blake to the extreme on this topic and other topics on here and it makes somebody like me to become defensive because of it. All I'm asking from you and others who are down on Blake to please let it play out before throwing in the towel on his career as a Jacksonville Jaguar quarterback.
