Id take Lawson if some strange series of events led him to fall to the second round. That's almost a no brainer.

Jack and Lawson sounds good to me.
Lawson, but he won't make it beyond the first.

...can we make it Bosa in the second instead?

Lawson won't make it out of the top 15. Pass rushers like him in a not so deep draft are going to be hot commodities.
Quote:I think Lawson is a guy who is getting hyped up by the usual crew of internet draftniks that the NFL is not necessarily as high on.

Honestly I havent heard much about Lawson outside of us here. I know when then idea of the top 3 defensive players being unavailable at our pick became a possible situation, I started to investigate guys I wouldnt mind taking at 5. I found Shaq Lawson and the more I watched him the more he looked like a guy i felt comfortable with us taking. Ive been talking about him since the beging of March as a result.

Every mock draft i see has him in the teens but he looks like a guy to me that will go at least top ten. Now why people are wanting to dismiss him all of a sudden is strange but not surprising around this time on this board lol. People get their guy and defend him to the death. Others focus on trying to make that guy look like trash while they build up their own guy.

I suscribe to the idea of being comfortable taking a couple of different guys instead of falling in love with just one guy.
Quote:No, that's not what I said.   What I said was just because a guy had great stats in college, that doesn't mean he'll be a great pro.

Weren't you just crying about nkemdiche's production? Make up your mind.
While we need both a guard and a pass rusher, if a talent like Lawson falls to you in the 2nd you take him and dont look back. There are starting quality o-linemen to be found in the 3rd.

Such as?

Sebastian Tretola, winner of the Jacobs Trophy.  Maybe my favorite guard in the draft, the guy is a mauler and could def. upgrade our running game his rookie year and is no slouch in pass protection as well.  Also Nick Martin, some like him better than Ryan Kelly and probably the highest upside out of all the centers.  CBS compares him to Alex Mack

Compares To: Alex Mack, Browns: Like Mack, Martin isn't a truly explosive athlete but his functional power, awareness and technique could make him the leader of an offensive line for a decade. Also like Mack, an impressive week at the Senior Bowl could help Martin steadily rise up boards as the draft approaches.

His brother Zack Martin has been a beast for the Cowboys so maybe its in his blood?  Thats a few I would be more than happy with in the 3rd.

Martin or Kelly would be a nice boost to our OL. I'm not sure we go that route in the second after signing beachum but I wouldn't be mad about it.
I've been making a list of "Gus guys" in this years draft for prospects who fit the mold of what Caldwell and Gus have been selecting.

Check out center Evan Boehm. I think he is a serious option for us in the 3rd or 4th. He fits the bill of everything they want in a center, really impressive in the run game.

Lol, Jack and Lawson just end the draft there, that would be the best possible scenario. Whitehair is over rated by the media, he is not a 1st round talent imo, so he could easily be there in the 2nd but I'd steer clear of him, seems more like a zone scheme guy.

would def. rather Garnett if we take a guard in the 2nd
This may be the worst poll ever lol.  Vino the only one to pick Whitehair haha

Yep just doing a few more positions then I'm done.
Kevin Dodd in the 2nd
I'd take Lawson 5th. Like him more than Ramsey.
