Not sure if it was ever destined to be any kind of masterpiece.

It's really a vehicle to get DC and Justice League a step closer to where Marvel is already up and running with the Avengers.  Have your core characters with their own franchises, with an additional one to bring them all together.

I have to believe that if they had any real competition other than My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, I doubt the box office would have been quite as big.

Man of Steel, I felt, was quite awful... but it was an admittedly necessary reboot.

With this one, I'm relegating to waiting for DVD.  I just wasn't drawn in not caring for the current Superman franchise, and not much interest in the new stand-in for Batman, either.  Batman has almost become the Colonel Sanders commercials, where they keep constantly swapping out the guy in the costume.  Back to the time between Keaton and Bale.

I loved the movie, personally.
Quote:I reached my quota for superhero movies with deadpool, and I just cant imagine a superman movie surpassing that.
I have no quota but, Deadpool was a more entertaining watch, imo.

Some may say my Marvel bias is showing...

but my tidbits on the movie....

Eisenberg as Luthor is awesome.

Batfleck works.

If I have to see lil Brucie fall down a hole in one more movie I might stab my eyes out.

I didn't like Irons as Alfred. Felt he wasn't old enough, especially considering Bruce's age.

I felt the movie was about 30 minutes too long. Found myself checking the time around the "climactic battle".

I think however, like many, they tried to do a little too much to set up for Justice League, whereas the Marvel universe unfolded at a slower pace with Iron Man and Capt and Thor getting solo films first.

It was a good movie. Not worth the arm and leg the theaters cost these days. But I'm still glad I didn't wait for DVD because the whole movie gets spoiled by then from the internets.

I was thoroughly entertained throughout Deadpool, while this movie had me trying to pay attention almost as if I was in class.

I thought Man of Steel was better than this movie.

Civil War and Suicide Squad are going to topple this movie, I think.

I think rotten tomatoes was too low of a rating... but some of the harsh criticism is well deserved.

The movie definitely felt rushed and convoluted, but that is DC trying to quickly play catch up with Marvel.

I am hoping the Suicide Squad movie fills in some holes and rounds the DCCU out a little more.

My biggest question going into the movie was dead Robin and his suit.
I am hoping the Suicide Squad will delve deeper into what happened with Robin. It was clear that the Joker had something to do with him so I definitely hope they go down that path a bit. There is also a fan theory that Scott Eastwood may be playing Richard Grayson as an undercover cop in the Suicide Squad. If that is the case then the dead Robin is Jason Todd and that would open the possibilities of a Red Hood and/or Nightwing storyline in the future.

Just found it interesting that outside of Bruce Wayne quickly looking at a graffitied-up Robin suit, there was no mention of him at all.
I thought the movie was OK for what it was and was only spared in my eyes by the performances of the two main characters.

The Good: Affleck and Cavill nailed their characters. It continues to stun me how people keep sleeping on Henry Cavill. He did a good job in Man of Steel (it's not his fault Superman was written so sullen and taciturn...blame the New 52 incarnation of Superman for that nonsense) and an even better one in BvS. Affleck isn't too surprising honestly. He's a huge fan and as a result, was probably the best person they could have gotten to play this version of Batman (older and more jaded).

The Bad: I'm a dissenting voice here but Wonder Woman's entire placement outside of the end of the movie was bad. Did the writers get confused and mistake Wonder Woman for the Black Widow? Diana is fierce, powerful and direct. She is NOT coy, demure and prone to subterfuge and trickery. Gal Gadot looks the part and killed it when she actually WAS Wonder Woman, though. I look forward to her movie (praying it survives this).

The Ugly: Eisenberg's Luthor literally ruined the movie for me. Not his fault per se. But that guy we saw on screen was not Lex Luthor. It was a bad impersonation of the Riddler. Lex is not insane. Lex is not easy to manipulate/influence (yes, not even by the person/thing alluded to in BvS) and he isn't ever so crass, direct nor sloppy. NEVER. A movie is only as strong as its antagonist and the antagonists in this one were bad. Both of them were awful.

The problem for the masses is too many people are trying to directly compare it to the Avengers. The Justice League isn't full of a bunch of proverbial clowns who like to joke and wisecrack among themselves or with their villains. And the two sources of direct comedy in the League weren't in the movie (much) in Flash (Wally West...NOT Barry Allen) and Green Lantern (Hal Jordan).

Simply put, I left the theater thinking that DC tried to make a movie for the fans and not for the masses but the writers tried to jam too much into this movie while not having a firm enough grasp on the nature of specific intergral characters, namely Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman, to pull anything else off other than Batman, Superman and their interactions.

The final conflict was one of the most ham-fisted things I've seen in a movie in a long time. It was cool in the sense that you finally got to see Wonder Woman actually being Wonder Woman but that aside...way to make a guy a jobber. I didn't even like that particular character in the comics, but he most assuredly is not a jobber level adversary.

I'll just have to disagree here.

I liked Eisenberg's Luthor.

They purposefully went for a younger Lex Luthor.

His emotions got out of control and he allowed his hatred to get the best of him.

It's just a different take on the character. And I kind of liked it. Plus Luthor could evolve from this. When he gets out, shaved head an all, he'll be a little older, wiser, and more calculated.
I actually enjoyed the film despite hearing it was bad from most of my friends. Loved Luthor,Wonder woman in a bigger role instead of being pigeon holed in would have been a lot more interesting, also way too long.

Read some theories which make a lot of sense. Apparently the creatures in one of Batman's visions are part of Darkseids army. A few other things point to him as being the next villain as well. The vision of Flash is quite important too as he mentions Lois Lane, possibly to bring back Superman?

You're the first person I've seen that didn't love Gadot's performance as WW in the movie but I understand where you're coming from. While she may be a warrior princess she's not like Batman where she can erase things from the internet or be a step ahead of everyone technologically. She also understands there's a time and a place to fight.

I really didn't see what was wrong with Wonder Woman at all.

THIS is WW...

Any thing less... is unfortunately... less.

Affleck's batman > Bales batman. I'm js.

Agree wholeheartedly. Affleck's Batman was so much more realistic in the sense that he wasn't kicking the crap out of everyone without even being scratched.

Balebats was mistake-free against anyone that wasn't Bane or Ra's while Batfleck gets kicked in the face and takes some pretty hard shots from Lex's cronies.
I loved the movie... I definitely think it was aimed to be laying the foundations for a Justice League movie.

Affleck was decent, Eisenberg was superb (he stole the show for me)..

Amy Adams = Hot

Gal Gadot = Hot

What's not to like?

Ben Afflecks greatest acting has come as a supporting actor. Dazed & Confused, Boiler room, and Jay and silent Bob strike back.

Good God, that's a lot of woman right there.

She's an Amazon, after all.

Like an "everything" bagel, not everyone has a taste for them but can be more than one can handle even if you do.

You get all you'd ever want or need... and then some.

I'm probably the minority here, but I don't think Amy Adams is hot. She's ok, but not HOT.

You're not in the minority. My husband thinks she attractive but hot, not so much.
