Kiffin --- coach in waiting like Jimbo was.
Don't be surprised if he takes over the Head Coaching duties of this team within the next 5-7 years.

Chhhhammmppiioonnnshhiipppp
Ronde Barber early = Amakuamara Late slot version = Colvin. I realllllly want Jack but as of now Telvin is more of a brooks.

This move gets us the inside track on Lane when Gus gets the AX

Quote:Kiffin was likely hired to help Wash - not to change his plan. Don't go connecting too many dots.
I thought so too. Wash is going to implement his vision of things and Kiffin is there to say, "No, we tried that particular idea in Minnesota and never got it to work right. Let's look at something else".

Quote:Well the Seattle D is a descendant from the Tampa 2.The front 7 concepts, including the "elephant" or "LEO" rusher, come from the 49ers. That said, Gus has experience in the Tampa 2, and even before this hire, I indicated it would not surprise me to see this team run some Tampa 2 concepts, especially if this team ends up with Myles Jack.

Good hire. Gotta stop the other teams from scoring so much. :thanks:

This might be a good move only time will tell... Our Defense needs it...

Dude's so old he was coaching the Packers defense when Bart Starr was qb.

Random fact; Monte Kiffin was Pete Carroll's mentor while the two of them worked under Lou Holtz at Arkansas.
And the circle is now complete.

I think it's a good hire, especially since we have a first year coordinator. Kiffin can at least tell Wash if he's totally overlooking something. Remember last year when Gus expressed bafflement at why we couldn't stop anybody? At least Kiffin, with his decades of experience, can tell us the answer. Something like "You have to get a new defensive backfield coach. Those guys are totally confused back there." At the very least, he can walk around the practice field and observe practice and tell Wash his impressions of the way the coaching is going.
Thinking even further, I would have him scout our offense and come up with a game plan to stop us. Self-scouting.

As I was saying:
"Bradley said the Jaguars aren’t switching to the Tampa 2 scheme that Kiffin developed with the Bucs and carried the team to a Super Bowl XXXVII title. Bradley said Kiffin ran something similar to what the Jaguars run now during his one season as Dallas’ defensive coordinator (2013)."

Its a great hire. Tons of experience and a long history of success in the defensive game. His knowledge for a guy like wash will be invaluable.

Monte Kiffin, defensive assistant, might make Marks into Warren Sapp potential sack numbers.
The team also hired John Benton as assistant offensive line coach and John Donovan as offensive quality control coach.

He's been at it for a long time and has a respectable track record. I'd like to hopefully see the same impact we saw with Dick LeBeau in tennessee last year. The tacks had a decent year on defense with Ray Horton running it but LeBeau was also an assistant/consultant so he was helping them out with learning and developing the younger players. Monte should hopefully have the same impact. I hope he's constantly telling Telvin Smith about this great Buccaneer he once coached on his defense by the name of Derrick Brooks. And how he can be that very same guy if he wants to be. Maybe even greater.
