I found this an incredibly in depth take of the top CBs in the draft. Eli Apple looks to be the best in the draft based on the stats, fits our scheme too.
Great read. Thanks for sharing.

It's looking like Eli Apple has solidified himself as the #3 CB behind Ramsey and VH. Wouldn't surprise me to see him go before VH if a team prioritizes size in their CBs though.

I would love it if a Alexander or Jackson fell to us in the 2nd. Prince is only on a 1-year deal plus has had his share of injuries. Would be a good time to lock in a starting caliber CB to join House and Colvin.

Alexander anywhere below the halfway point in Rd 1 becomes a steal in my opinion.
This was a very good "read." Definitely provides much insight into the players at cornerback. Looks like Apple will go in the first round and it is possible Alexander may fall to the 2nd. What a tough choice the Jaguars will have if they take Jack in the first and Dodd, Ogbah, Spence and Alexander are on the board in the 2nd. As tempting as it might be to take Alexander, this is a case where I'd look at need. Jags desperately need another pass rusher and all 3 of those guys have the potential to eventually get double digit sacks. So, even if they have Alexander rated a few spots higher than the pass rushers I'd have to pass on the potential shut-down corner in favor of the pass rusher. This would be a great problem to have!

Alexander in the second would be highway robbery.

Didn't know much about Apple but he looks legit.

I think in a trade back scenario CB makes sense. I'm not sold on any edge rusher in this draft.

Side note, Alexander has zero career picks ......... Just saying

From the article:
Quote:Do not be enamored with a defender’s interception totals, as that category is just the “glamour” part of a cornerback’s game.
Alexander has also been known to be so dominant that opposing teams don't even throw his way. Might explain some of the INT totals
Different teams will covet different DBs I think based on what they already have on the roster. Take the jags for example. Now that we have a Pro Bowl center fielder maybe DC and GB feel good about a guy like Hargreaves who gambles a lot. He could get beat deep bc he gambles, but knowing you have a very good FS behind him may make them feel ok about his play style.

Conversely, Gipson is also a ball hawk. So maybe they would want someone like Ramsey who isn't a gambler and allows Gipson to make those turnover type plays.

All in all I think it depends on a team's current roster on what type of corner they prefer.
Simple fact is, look how many CBs have been drafted with zero career pick......... Taking the ball away and making plays on the ball is part of the job. At the least its a concern

On the same token the guy with 3 and zero last year is considered a top 5 pick in Ramsey.   Or does it only count against Alexander?

For me, the only ways a low INT total counts against a CB is if he is dropping a lot of INTs or if he is simply getting burnt time and time again.

Neither Ramsey nor Alexander appear to have been burnt much.

Even if they are dropping a lot of picks, it's okay if they are stopping opposing receivers from catching the ball.

I would be happy with either Ramsey or Alexander.
Even though I do not see the hype with Ramsey. No complaints with either as well or both.

it has been stated multiple times that is a concern. If you take a DB in the top 5 you want him to be able to create turnovers.
