Quote:Peyton to Harrison is one of the more underrated connections because it rarely gets mentioned when talking about the best ever, but this connection totally belongs in that conversation. It's a lofty record so it's going to take healthy play for a long time to get there, but with that said, records are made to be broken.
Marvin's 140 catches in a season is a record I dont see being broken for a while. Antonio Brown would be the only one right now who could but even his monster season last year was still like 15 catches short.

Edit: Wow nevermind Brown had 136 catches last year. Very possible for him to get it especially with Bryant being out.

Bare in mind that was with Big Ben out for a while as well. He gets 1800 yards this season if him and Ben stay healthy.
For what its' worth, Robinson's size and athleticism make him possibly the best red zone target in the league. They'd both have to avoid injury and play their entire careers in Jacksonville, obviously.

Barring injury, A.J. Green and Dalton have an outside shot of it. If they both get another contract in Cincy, Green could reasonably get to 100 TDs by age the end of his age 33 season and then 2-3 years of slowed down/injury seasons could get him to 115. I don't see it happening, though.

Think about this:

Harrison's first three years in the NFL

Age: # of TDs

24: 8

25: 6

26: 7

Green

23: 7

24: 11

25: 11

26: 6

Robinson

21: 2

22: 14

Cooper

21: 6

By age 23, Harrison was at 0... green was at 7. Robinson and Cooper will both likely be at ~25-28 TDs at age 23.

Gotta love the offseason.  Let's have some wins.

Quote:Let's pump the brakes a bit here because with more offensive balance, Bortles numbers will probably slip a bit.  I'll be happy if Blake cuts his interceptions number in half at this point.  We can talk records 5-10 years from now assuming he stays healthy and at least one of the receivers sticks around.
He also left some TDs on the field too, either drops, missed reads, etc. I see the same TD number, with possibly a slight dip if he goes under 600 attempts. I see no reason to use your best options on offense less(Allens, JT, Bortles) simply for the sake of 'balance'. I think if you had to put a pitch count on pass attempts it should be around 35-40. You have what should be an explosive passing game, and a top 10 QB orchestrating it, I hope we continue to use that strength more than we run, maybe 55/45 or 60/40 in favor of the passing game. If Blake can just cut his Ints down in critical moments, we are in great shape either way you slice it. This offense is loaded for the next decade, if we keep everyone around.

What he said.

If (and it's a big if) Bortles and the Allens can stay healthy, and... if we retain all three of these guys for years to come... then we might be in a position to think about records. Keep in mind though that (as was already pointed out) that if we get more of a running game established (and consequently a more balanced offense), the numbers in the passing game will go down. Very much like when MoJo set records here with the running game, it was partially due to having virtually no passing game. I don't point this out to down play the merit of Jones/Drew's running ability at that time. It's just common sense that if one aspect of the offense if emphasized over the other then that one aspect is going to have 'inflated' numbers.
Just win baby.

What would you rather have a prolific QB/WR combo that goes down in history or bling on your fingers
Quote:"When you stated the Manning / Harrison connection, I thought the topic would be whether there will ever be a QB/WR combo that ever consisted of a QB that hung his junk in a female trainers face prior to throwing a TD pass to a WR that fought with some dude 10 minutes before that dude was killed by a gunshot wound from the WRs gun. I don't think that will ever happen again."

Not a GOAL to strive for.
this is so irrelevant and lame lol
Quote:The clots hardly had any running back. So with Yeldon and Ivory healthy no way. So what he was saying in essence is they had no real running game. And even in the pass first Nfl of today. There will not be many teams with an Elite qb a Elite wr and no running game. While outside of Tenn I have no praise of manning. And even in Tenn Martin won the Ncaa championship not manning.

Still what he is saying is on point. Your running game would have to be dismal. And yet a top flight qb and wr. I don't think that is ever broken. Or if is not in the next 10 years.

And to put the record straight i started becoming a vols fan after manning already graduated. So did not see any live games of manning as vols qb. Now there is talk the team was set up for martin to win. However set up or not far as players. Still needed a qb to win games and make plays. And martin though never transferred to Nfl level. I seen the guy get drilled and manhandled on plays and yet a play or two later td. That speaks volumes.
So Edgerrin James wasnt a RB? right.

We can talk about records right now while assuming he stays healthy and Robinson as well.

It's fun.

Try it.

Ya know... fun?

:teehee:

I think in today's NFL... any QB who thinks his passing records are safe is silly.

HOWEVER... In today's NFL it's more about the money than ever. It'll be hard for any duo to break such a record because these players will leave to get paid and chase rings and records in the twilight years.

Marshall Faulk either lol

Yeah and Brown had an AWFUL Mike Vick for like 2.5 games and that other young kid for like a game and a half or somethin
