I read some NFL guys have him rated higher than VHIII. Call it a sneaking suspicion but I think Dave is one of them. He said he had 5 players in mind he would be happy with and they may not be "household names" Eli Apple definitely fits the bill, it seems no one is talking about him like they are VHIII
Its tough because the team really needs a young elite Cornerback, but it also needs an elite edge pass rusher / LEO.
I guess if you truly feel that Fowler Jr is that guy, than CB has to be the pick at #5! (assuming Jalen is already gone for possible depth at FS/CB).

Eli Apple isn't on the same level as vh3. He's definitely a notch below.
He's not a top 10 or even top 20 pick
Jags just doing their due diligence in case he falls to them in the 2nd or possible trade up into the late 1st. I doubt they would trade up for a CB though as there should be some pretty good ones available early 2nd round.

That is it.
People seem to be overreacting to every player we interview. Seemingly forgetting we have 7 picks after our first pick.
His weight is really concerning to me. He goes mid first round.

What's wrong with his weight? He's 199 that's big enough for a CB

Unless they trade down for next years 1st & think about drafting the best available corner or pass rusher at that point ... might be that they think he'll be there around 15th & be a win/win.

The Jaguars
could move down 10 spots and likely still have an attractive defensive end (Oklahoma State’s Emmanuel Ogbah or Clemson’s Shaq Lawson), cornerback (Clemson’s Mackensie Alexander or
Ohio State’s Eli Apple) or linebacker (Alabama’s Reggie Ragland or Georgia’s Leonard Floyd) to choose from. That estimate figures Buckner and Florida cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III will be gone, while offensive players will be taken in the span as well.

(Eli Apple)
He played in 13 games last season as Ohio State won the Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame, with Apple being named the defensive MVP of the game. -

This Apple stuff needs to stop.
I don't know if they trade down Jalen's probably off the board with San Diego, and Vernon won't be there if they trade outside of top 10... so Eli Apple's name is one of the BAPs meets need (provided that the edge rushers left dont warrant being drafted that high)?

While I don't think the Jags will select Apple, he arguably has the biggest upside of any corner in the draft. He has all the makings of a true "lock-down" corner.
