Quote:So, now you are classifying anybody who isn't a WW2 historian as "Trumpistas"?

Oh, and the answer to your question is none of the above.

I am by no means a "WW2 historian", I just happen to know the history of our country. I would bet that the majority of voters in either party over the age of say 45 know the history that I brought up.

Not knowing about, the location or the significance/history of the Mariana Islands has to be one of the two. Ignorance or failed education?

Quote:It is the failure of your ego, sadly. I would say every "Trumpistas" in this thread has a better worldview and understanding of history than you ever could. You are extremely arrogant. You hold such high esteem for yourself and believe you are so accomplished, and yet look so pathetic.

My ego has nothing to do with it. You are displaying and going to the typical liberal playbook. The Trumpistas in this thread are fighting tooth and nail to refute me because they have been called out. I haven't seen anything demonstrated in this thread that leads me to believe that any of you Trumpistas have a "better worldview" or "understanding of history".

I actually fear for our nation and the future.

Ok, cool. I have 8 more years to learn it then.

My only disagreement with you in this thread is your assertion that deflection in the face of criticism is a liberal-only tactic.
Actually he's the one acting like a liberal. He started attacking people, gets a response, then cries victim. Borderline psychopathic behavior.

Good point. Not very logical.

95.62% of the Internet must be psychopaths then.

Probably
Quote:jagibelieve, you're merely elitist. You must question the IQ level of Trump supporters before you join the intelligentsia.

LOL. Elitist is something that I very much am not. What comes to mind is the famous quote by Mark Twain. "Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.”

What is so amusing to me is that the Trumpistas can't admit their ignorance, and can't answer a simple question.

Are they that stupid, or is it a failure of our education system?

So he's a Bernie protester..

Please show me where I "attacked anyone then cried victim". All I did is ask a question and Trumpistas are out in force.

You sound like a robot...

Anyway, I will answer your question again.

Neither. You have unfortunately been disillusioned by the size of your own ego. I suggest you see a psychiatrist.

True. It's a tactic used plenty by both the left and the right. Deflection and re-direction of a discussion is a tactic used often, especially when losing an argument/debate.

Well, your argument that Trump supporters are not intelligent/educated is objectively false looking at voting statistics and polling data. So you are 0-1.

Your argument that the Norther Mariana Islands are a critical piece of American history is extremely subjective, but I would wager that the majority of historians would disagree with that assessment. So you are 0-2.

Want to go 0-3?

So what are you saying? Trump voters are smart and the education system is just fine?

As I stated above, rather than discuss issues, a common tactic is to divert attention (in this case with your cute picture). The other tactic is to change the subject and finally, do some mocking and try to discredit the opposition.

So justify it to me and everyone else reading this board WHY no Trump supporters had any idea regarding the Mariana Islands. My questions was whether or not it was ignorance or failure of our education system.

Rather than post silly pictures to deflect from the issue, why not answer the question and back it up? Your simple answer was "neither". Back it up. It has nothing to do with my "ego". Back your side of the debate up.

5 myths about Trump supporters
1. “They’re uneducated”

Blue-collar voters certainly make up the bulk of Trump’s large coalition, but he is also doing very well among Republicans with college degrees. In six of the statewide GOP exit polls so far, Trump was the most popular candidate among college-educated voters. In another six, he was their second-place choice. (Only in Oklahoma did Trump fall out of the top two among those with college degrees.) A large number of college Republicans count themselves as Trump supporters as well.

Bring it on.

I never said that Trump supporters were not intelligent/educated. I just questioned the fact. Voting statistics and polling data doesn't prove anything. Typical of Trump and his supporters, you all just look at "polling data" rather than "real world".

So what is "intelligence"? Would it maybe be someone in their right mind that actually knows basic things about the country? Would it be someone that knows a bit of history and knows what sacrifices the former generation made? Or is "intelligence" some young kid with a smart phone and google?

As far as the Mariana Islands, if you think that winning the battles there are not a significant part of history, you really are misinformed. In the pacific theater during WWII those islands were crucial in order for us to win. Since you do google so much, why not look up how many lives were lost battling for those (as you call it) "insignificant" islands? The bottom line is, those islands were absolutely a critical piece of American History.

Explain otherwise.
Quote:True. It's a tactic used plenty by both the left and the right. Deflection and re-direction of a discussion is a tactic used often, especially when losing an argument/debate.
This has much more to do with it that partisanship. I've been anxiously awaiting the day those words came out of your keyboard.
It is not necessarily a sign of diminished intelligence to be duped, but it's difficult to make an argument otherwise.

Quote:Read or watch any of the many documentary films regarding WWII, specifically the pacific campaign. Also, google for terms such as "nuclear test sites in the Pacific". One island in particular that is well known is Bikini Atoll.

This is all just simple history.

I do know about Bikini Atoll. My study of WW2 has always been on the European front. Not much interest in nuclear test sites since I was a teen TBH but do remember some stuff. You refreshed what memory I have. Thanks!

The Turkey Shoot was one of the greatest, most lopsided American military victories ever, resulting in the final defeat of the Japanese Air Force. After their horrific losses there they switched to the Kamikaze as their main tactic since their tech couldn't match Grumman's F6F Hellcat. They knew they couldnt dog fight the Americans so they started using not so smart bombs against the Navy. It was a tragic yet pivotal victory for us losing one pilot for every 15 of theirs.
