The original "Jack" (of all trades) linebacker was Wilbur Marshall. An undersized but highly talented linebacker who could rush the passer, stop the run, and drop beck into coverage.
Wilbur Marshall: 6'1" 231lbs
Per Year Average: 90 tackles 5.5 sacks 4 ints as a jack linebacker with Chicago
The original "otto" linebacker is Bruce Irvin. A pure athlete that is good at everything. Ran a 4.50 40 yard dash, put that on the other side of Telvins 4.4 40 yard dash. Speed Kills!!!
Bruce Irvin: 6'4" 245lbs
Per Year Average: 40 tackles 5.5 sacks 1 ints as a otto linebacker for Seattle.
Very similar stats and position for their respective team. Both excel at all abilities for an outside linebacker. Wilbur Marshall was a terrific player for the '85 Bears and created a soon to be called "Otto" linebacker. I think if he comes to Jacksonville could develop into his own finally getting to shine through and prove his talent.
