<p class="">Some credible sources are telling me Lovie Smith will be the next <a class="" href='https://twitter.com/hashtag/Illini?src=hash'>#Illini</a> head football coach. <a class="" href='https://twitter.com/cbschicago'>@cbschicago</a>

That would be huge for Illinois.

There's a reason they fired the coach they just hired. It'll cost them in their buyout too, but I can't blame them. Lovie Smith would be a significant hire for them

I have to imagine Khan is pretty pleased with this hire.

Ha, yea, good point.
Definitely a good hire from Illinois' point of view.  I just looked up his coaching history and it's been a while since he was in the college coaching ranks.  It will be interesting to see how he does in recruiting.

WOW ..... If Illinois gets good, the Big 10 may take over as the best conference in the NCAA --- Michigan, MSU, and OSU are already right up at the top with their elite coaches.

Not bad incentive to be successful and stay there in the future.

1 key item in a contract these days is the buyout clause.  Anyone know how much $$

I think I read 900K for the HC, and then there was the assistants (that I can't remember)
