I worked that shift for a year and a half. I never got used to it.
Quote:Maybe they should get up and start their day at a reasonable hour.
But seriously, after next week, I will have to go to work in the darkness again.
A lot of people have their daily job starting time prescribed to them.

I realize that. The first line was said in jest.
You know, days get longer and shorter naturally just based on the earth revolving around the sun.
We don't need this spring forward, fall back garbage. There have been studies done that show accidents increase and other negative affects of this stupid law.

Which is just one of many reasons as to why that shift isn't fun.

You are right. It increases those first 2-3 days. I think i saw an article last week it was up 1.6%. The rest of the DST has shown that the percentages of car accidents are less then without.

IIRC, I read it shortens lifespan as well.
It's a special person who works that shift, and desires it. And bless them, too... because they are necessary.
I've done it, but can't see how folks do it for long periods of their life. Again, thanks to those who can an do.
I'm actually getting ready to go on that shift here for a few weeks. REALLY not looking forward to it.
Get really dark curtains, shades, and none of it will really work...

Whoa there, speak for yourself.
Quote:I was reading an article that the idea that summer vacation was for crops is a myth. Article pointed out crops are harvested in the fall. It is an interesting read, and something I had never put much thought into. http://m.mentalfloss.com/article.php?id=56901
That's true for the most part. Things like alfalfa can be harvested multiple times per season, starting in the summer but for the most part crops are picked Sept-Dec.

*Ahem* Yep, Ole SF grows some mighty fine corn and beans out there. Yep, CORN and BEANS only.

On a scale like mine, it would definitely be an issue. Doubt I could even get them in the ground.
People actually get busted here all the time trying to push that little personal consumption rule.
