Take him and don't look back.
Jack, along with Bosa, Ramsay and Buckner are all in play. Once free agency is over we'll all have a much clearer picture. The good thing is that I can't see a scenario in which the Jaguars don't end up with 2 very solid starters in the first 2 rounds.

The best case for Jack is that there really aren't any great linebackers in free agency. If they could address the secondary and defensive line during this first phase of the off-season it strengthens the chance that Jack is the pick. Jaguars need to go strong after whoever hits the market at corner (Smith or Jenkins) and defensive line (Vernon and Jackson). Safety is a tough call since the 2 most likely choices have issues and are therefore risky picks. Weddle's age and Gipson's inconsistency are both concerning, especially when there is a strong likelihood they can find their guy in the 1st (Ramsay) or 2nd (Joseph) round.

I don't see Jack as a top ten talent primarily because of the position he plays. If you're going to draft a front-seven player in the top ten, it had better be one who will disrupt behind the line of scrimmage, not someone who'll be chasing running backs around on the wrong side of it.
I was just being truthful.
I think Jack will be the best player available.  Not sure he's the pick, but I'd love to see it.

I'm not even going to be upset if we pick Jack. He's a pure football player.

I'm going to guess a LB that doesn't play on the line of scrimmage

Apparently 4-3 LBs aren't worthy of high selections even though Carolina's defense practically relies on its great LB play.

Quote:And that's the logic that would've kept Luke Keuchly off your team.

Except Luke makes plays behind LOS quite a bit. So no, he's not really off base here. For the record, guys who have/had the ability to affect the LOS AND cover? Those I will take at 5, but that's so far and few in the history of the NFL. When I think of guys who have the ability to do both, I immediately look at Ray Lewis and Hardy Nickerson.

Jack is a very good player and if healthy will make an impact. If his knee checks out, I'd consider him (i'm not 100% sold on him still).

My comparison I think stylistically? Julian Peterson.

He has 7 sacks in 4 seasons. Are you referring to TFL's? Because I don't see why Jack wouldn't be able to do that. Actually, I don't see why he wouldn't be able to rush the QB on occassion, either. So I'm still not sure what exactly the original poster's point is about "off ball" LBs.
I curious to see what he runs at his pro day, looks like a 4.5 guy to me if not faster, I don't know how bad of a meniscus tear he had, but I've had one and I was running in less than 2 months. As long as there is still cartilage still left it's absolutely a non issue.

Are we thinking of the same Keuchly?
March 15th I think he said was his Pro Day. Anxiously awaiting that day!

GO JAGS!!

When's the last time an offball linebacker was NFL Defensive Player of the Year?

2013.

You don't think Luke affects the LOS?

Not anymore than Myles Jack would.

I can't speak for the other poster...but for me I have a few concerns about Jack (and maybe what the other guy was referring to). One is he hasn't shown the ability to shed blocks consistently. Two is that he runs horizontally too much for my liking as opposed to really being aggressive and attacking.I think he's a guy that you will need to protect and allow to roam free.

Problem is, we already have that kind of guy in Telvin (and I think Telvin attacks better than Jack). I thought I read that he weighed in at 245 at the combine, so I find that interesting. If he can play at that weight while retaining his speed, then he goes up in my book (assuming he checks out health wise of course).

I still have Bosa, Ramsey as one and two. Deciding on who #3 is pretty tough, right now its Jack/VH3/Spence. Need to look at Tunsil in case he falls.
You can tell just by the way Jack talks and his overall attitude that he's smart enough to be the new field general that this defense needs. A new Mike Peterson.

I want the Jack.

Just to hear more AC/DC in the 'Bank.

[quote name="git'er_done" post="700294" timestamp="1456758929"]He's excellent in coverage. Not exactly a 2-down thumper.[/quote watch some more film man. He was a physical Running back and aside from playing Lb he's also played some nicklel and some NFL teams at combine ask him about possibly playing some SS.
