I hope we use one or two mid round picks on the offensive line. Get maybe a swing tackle and another interior guy to develop.

We have much greater needs than O-line at this point.

Well, "we" can now count one that's forgotten.

The Joke was solid for most the 2015 season.  That last game was super ugly.  Hopefully competition can be found in Free Agency.  Played well against average competition but struggled against good players.

Have we forgotten about Linder? Our best O-lineman prio to his injury. Also Joeckel played pretty good until that Texas game when Watt ate his lunch. The OL as a whole played better than the previous four/five years. Adjust the OL w/existing players including Cann and we have the nucleus of an Very Good OL...

If they draft Tunsil I'll be sick. At best he will be solid. However, do you really want just solid out of your top 10 pick? That's especially true with guys like Bosa, Ramsey, Jack and others available who have superstar potential.

Make the "we" count now 2.

I would say no matter what put Luke in a prove it year.

I thought the offensive line made great strides last year especially considering they were without their best player for the majority of the year.

While i do think the oline is in need of some attention. I do not think it takes priority over defense. IMO our problem was the fact we could put 40 points up in a game and lose(the titans game in ten). That's telling me that our offense is progressing and our defense is failing. Not to mention we made the texans O look like juggernauts in the last game of the year only to watch them get shut down the next week by a solid D. Nobody has forgot about the Oline, but at this point, it would not be my main focus of concern.

Really?  What would you call it?  Bottom (or near bottom) of the league in rushing attempts, rushing yards, rushing yards per play, and sacks given up.  What exactly would you call that offensive line?  

 

3 of the main problems are already taken care of.  Beadles and Wiz are gone, and Linder is coming back healthy.  Now just need to either add a good guard or center or both and let the rest play out.  

 

Middle of the pack in rushing is what I'm looking for.  If the team can get to that, then the passing game should make us one of the best offenses in the league.

Wiz was signed last year because he was bigger and more physical than Bowanko, and he was experienced in Olsen's offense and knew the protections.

 

A year later, Wiz was proven not to be the answer at C.

 

Do you think the team should err on the side of experience again, or if a more talented rookie were available, should we go that route?

 

Does moving Cann or Linder to C represent a good middle ground?

So hard to say w/o really knowing what how Linder and Cann project at Center.  

But - If you believe Mayock's assessment of Cann from a year ago, then the easiest fix is sliding AJ inside and signing a FA guard (or drafting one in the third again.)

As long as the Center gets address and we add another Lt to compete we should be fine..

Cann at C is appealing on one level.

 

As a clip posted in the Beadles thread shows, Cann has the ability to stonewall defenders that charge him directly, almost as if his legs are cement pillars that he plants in the ground in pass protection.  But that does not preclude him from having quick feet to slide, mirror and change direction.  I think those abilities and attributes would serve him well at either G or C.  He's certainly smart enough to man the C spot.

 

But, to my knowledge he played G in college.  Even though we can safely presume he knows the offense and the protections I don't know how he is at calling line signals, etc.  We don't know how well he would handle the transition to C, though yesterday on the Jaguars Thursday radio show, Boselli seemed confident that if Linder (or Cann) were good players, they could handle the switch to C with no problem.  I just want players-especially promising ones-operating within their comfort zone.

 

We know Mack has called protections and played the position well in the pros.  But he doesn't know this offense.  Furthermore, he didn't play well for at least part of last year, presumably due to the broken leg.

 

So I can see arguments for either guy playing C, or maybe even a rookie playing the position if good enough.
