Bad Little Socialist Bernie Breadlines Sanders Only Paid a 13% Tax Rate

Bernie “Breadlines” Sanders, who wants some of us to pay 90% of our income in taxes, only paid 13% federal income tax. We are glad he paid only 13% but we find the mind-numbing hypocrisy astounding.

And that's why socialism doesn't work, there's always the selected few wjoe benefit from everyone else giving 90% to the feds.
LOL at all the schmohocks who voted for this geriatric.

And.. Donated to his geriatric end of life old man crisis.
How exactly is this hypocrisy?

So calling for tax brackets of more than 50% of others income while only paying 13% isn't hypocrisy what do you call it?

Do as I say not as I do pretty much defines hypocrisy

The purchase of a 3rd home and a 175k sports car wasn't enough hypocrisy. His followers truly baffle me.

I don't see how it is hypocrisy. Hypocrisy would be calling for higher taxes, getting higher taxes, then not paying the higher taxes. Last I checked the tax brackets have stayed the same.

How about calling for higher taxes for people who already pay higher taxes than you do?

Bernie like everyone else has the option to pay more in taxes. But he chooses to use the deductions available to minimize his personal payment, why? If his entire platform is built on we all must pay more taxes because only the states redistribution of income can correct injustices why the hell would he as a leader of Democratic socialism look to minimize his personal contribution?

hasn't he talked about no one needs so much and yet he has what 3 homes? But you and me should pay 30-40% of our income so he can fund all kinds of programs. [BLEEP] Bernie Sanders

This. If you want to tell everyone to pay their fair share, you had better be the first one in line to throw your money in on your ideas.
This is good because it all but eliminates him from another run in 2020. This guy as President scares the living crap out of me.
All kidding aside, I am curious to hear from Bernie supporters on this.....

You wont.

I'm not a Bernie Sanders supporter, but I don't see what's wrong with following the law and paying the prescribed taxes, whether it winds up being 13% or 30%.

A lot of you seem to be saying he should voluntarily pay more taxes, but I don't see why he should.   He's following the law.   Just because he wants to change the law, following the law doesn't make him a hypocrite.

I read the article in the original post, and it doesn't give any reason why he paid 13%, or even any evidence that he did pay 13%.  It just starts with "he paid 13%" and then goes on and on about what a terrible person he is.

That crazy old liberal probably won't even make it to 2020.

Think it may be a fake news site...

Well, I can't claim to be a huge Bernie supporter, but I think there are some pretty simple reasons why one would support progressive taxation. Still, it is a pretty strong example to me of why our system is so messed up. On the individual level, and far more so on the corporate level, our tax code is a convoluted garble.

No one is saying he should pay more than he has to except him.

He's a hypocrite telling others that people in his bracket don't pay enough and that they should pay so much more. He, however, chooses not to pay the amount he claims others are morally responsible for paying.

I wish I only had to pay 13%.
