Mel just laid out his 2nd mock draft. Looks a little something like this:
1. Ten- Tunsil
2. Cleve- Wentz
3. SD- Buckner
4. Dal- Goff
5. Jags- Ramsey
6. Bal- Bosa
7. SF- Jack
8. Mia- Stanley
9. TB- Hargreaves
10. NYG- Spence
Few points. Buckner is first defensive player taken. Jags pass on Bosa and Jack.

All these mocks are well and good, but I really think it depends on what happens in FA before we can get a clearer picture.

Agreed. Secondary help is pretty deep this FA as well.

Buckner at 3? Haven't seen this one yet.

That was kind of my reasoning for posting this one. Buckner as the first D player taken? Seems like a stretch
I would be utterly amazed if Buckner was taken before Bosa, Jack and Ramsey

Totally. I thought he was considered more of a big end and not a pass rusher type. I don't believe you see those drafted at 3 very often.
I'm looking forward to Mayocks take on these boys during the combine.
It seems that all the mock drafts I have seen over the last week (Kiper, Yahoo Sports, BR) have Bosa sliding and being the 3rd or 4th defensive player taken. I must say, I agree with the mocks.

Didnt the chiefs draft a big end at 3 a few years ago? Cant remember his name. Jackson I think.

Yes he was suppose to be the next Richard Seymour lol, he was an ok player but you dont take big ends in the top 5

Think about the fact that you can't remember his name and what that implies.

It's happening.
You guys are behind. Buckner is being looked at like a Calais Campbell clone. Above all else he is a better fit for the Chargers' defense than Bosa at a position that has more of a premium than DB (Ramsey) and LB (Jack). When was the last time an offball linebacker or defensive back went top 3? I think the lack of blow away tranch talent and how good Jack and Ramsey look are making people forget linebackers and defensive backs are not drafted top 4, and very rarely top 5.
What I love about Kiper's mock is that it has Ramsey, Jack, and Bosa all available as options for DC to choose from at pick 1-5.
Is he better than his fellow-Duck Armstead ? (From last season's draft?)

Neither are 3-4 DE's.

Yeah i know lol. I m not advocating he should be taken that high but i sure hope the chargers take him.....

Buckner has versatility. While he's a perfect 3-4 end, he could also be a disruptive 3-tech DT in a 4-3. This is a weak draft. When it comes down to it, I think pass rush and D-Line takes precedent top 3 over the backend and Buckner offers the safest bet and closes archetype to that in this draft.
This buckner thing is a joke.
Sure. Guy only had 17 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks on top of 6 other QB hurries, in a defense that is not even geared to let big ends put up those kinds of numbers, and is 6'7'' 290lbs with a great motor. But he is a joke.
