Jack and Ramsey have their own threads so I figured Bosa should as well. I believe one of these three are going to be our pick in April. Bosa in combination with Fowler would give us two well rounded D-Lineman we can move around and give us a pass rush for the next decade. The best thing about potentially having them both is, again, they are well rounded. They both play the run well, which means we can keep them both on the field at all times. I don't either one are necessarily going to be elite pass rushers in the vein of Justin Houston or Von Miller but I think they can both be double digit guys annually. Seriously, we'd have one of the better young pass rush tandems in the league. Maybe even the only one if you think about it. How many teams in the league can say they have two 22 year old, potentially probowl caliber pass rushers? I don't think any. Add that with the DT we'll likely take in round 2 and oh boy. I can really see this line doing a complete 180 next season if we land Bosa.

You are connecting a lot of dots that may or may not be there. Maybe.

Two 22 year old pro bowl caliber pass rushers? You mean the two guys who have a combined 0 snaps in the NFL?

Pass rush for the next decade? So you are banking on these two players sticking around for three contracts each? Only one of which is currently employed by the Jaguars?

Also you seem to be putting us down for a DT in round 2? Interesting.

You've painted quite the alluring picture here. I mean, it's not all that realistic, but interesting none the less.
Nvm, don't care.

I think the reason people think we would probably take a DT in round 2 is because of the depth of the DT class.   It's been described as similar in depth to the WR class in 2014, when we took 2 WRs in round 2.   Hence, odds are, the best available defensive player in round 2 will be a defensive tackle.

As far as your remark about both Bosa and Fowler having 0 snaps in the NFL, if we're talking about the future, by definition the future hasn't happened yet.    They haven't yet played.   Duh.
As the weeks go on I'm warming to the idea of taking Bosa if he's there. I think he could offer more impact this year than anyone we could pick in round 1.
I would prefer Bosa above anyone, if he is available. He just seems so disruptive.

But I'm more or less accepting he will be gone by the time we pick. I could even see Cleveland picking him and taking a chance on a QB in the second round.

Rumblings about him moving to a 4 or 5 technique

Bosa would play the 5 tech here but I could also see them moving him all over the line like Seattle does with Bennett.
Spence looks more disruptive.
Spence may be more disruptive, but if Bosa is still on the board the Jags should take him. Much less risky and he is also very good against the run. He and Jack would be the best picks. I just have a hunch that Jack will be selected before the Jags pick so Bosa will be our man.

Spence could also be out the league in 2 years.....

Spence could also be the Jaguars leading pass rusher in 2 years.....
op has numerous different threads where he says who the jags should pick or are going to pick and they're a different player in every one.

look at the thread on if Noah Spence checks out the jags should pick him, he's posted in there at least twice talking bosa down.

Bosa already slipping down the board in February? Is he this years Bridgewater?

I said potentially I didn't say sure fire. Would you not agree that two top 5 picks have at least the potential to be pro bowl caliber players? I think if they pan out yes we will have the cap flexibility to resign both into their next two contracts. We will not have to worry about cap for a long time. i think DT is far more likely than any other position to be our pick round 2, because not only it is a need but it's also almost a guarantee that the BPA when we pick in round 2 will be a DT. Marriage of need and value. Not to mention you can never have too many good front line players anyway. I think it is very realistic. It is very realistic that Bosa will be there at 5 and it is very realistic we take him. It is also very realistic that both him and Fowler will at least be good, well rounded, versatile players off the edge. It is also realistic we take a good DT in round 2. Is it a lot of assumptions? Yes. Is it unrealistic? No. There is very much a distinction there.

So being open to different players at a spot in the draft where we don't know who will be available is a problem now? As far as talking down Bosa, I'm explaining why he will drop and why Spence would offer more pass rush ability. However, I'm resigned to the fact that Caldwell will likely take the safer and more well rounded player in Bosa than a risk like Spence who doesn't play the run as well. I've never said Bosa is a bad player and would be a tragedy at 5, only that Spence as a pass rusher is a more tantalizing option. Far be it from me to have less than one narrow minded view on everything.

Quote:Bosa already slipping down the board in February? Is he this years Bridgewater?
If slipping a spot or two is being "this year's Bridgewater". He's more like this year's Leonard Williams. Media and internet draftniks hype him up as some next generational talent like Watt and the NFL sees him as just a good prospect. Teams will pass on him based on fit and need. Titans and Browns will both pass. San Diego will likely pass because they run a 3-4 and Bosa is an awkward fit in that defense, whereas DeForest Buckner is perfect for it. The only thing stopping Bosa from falling to us is Dallas and I've read Jalen Ramsey is the number 1 player on their board. So I believe it is a very real, if not likely possibility that Bosa is there when we pick and I believe Caldwell will be inclined to take the pass rusher over the linebacker.
Man if Bosa is there at five Caldwell needs to sprint to the podium.

Bingo.

Good thing it's looking like Bosa, Ramsey or Jack is there for the Jags at 5. Should be a good first round start.
I dont think u take a guy that high who might be playing 5 technique

One of those has to be ours and I'm ecstatic about getting any one of them. I'm really starting to think that Bosa may end up available at our pick tho.
