Had a conversation with a computer nut friend not so long ago and he was talking about spyware put in phones to record product usage etc etc.

Lately I've noticed that after let's say ordering a certain brand of beer in a restaurant, whilst having my phone on me,that a day or two later I would start seeing promoted posts on the internet of that beer company ,its happened a few times with other products such as talking about phone insurance to a friend and promoted posts coming up about phone insurance afterwards.

Sorry for the drivel but has anyone else had any experience with things like this or is it tinfoil hat overload?

We knew you were going to post this.
Spyware is everywhere. Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out yo get you :teehee:

The Drifter Files..
There's nothing tinfoil hat about it.  Whether or not it was a coincidence this time the technology is there.  Everything we do is being recorded in one way or another and stored into hundreds of databases everywhere.  Even if you've never used a smart phone you're still being tracked. It's just a case of who sells or gives what information to who.  And then it's a case of processing the information and connecting the dots.  Then the most disturbing part comes next, entities adding subjective context to your data.  What if all your data is collected into a central database and your entire life is computed into a single score, not a credit score,  but a single score that grades you as a human being?  What if the algorithm gives you a negative score?   What if this score was actually used by corporations or the government in a way that vastly affects your life and your opportunities?  What if the people who designed the algorithm don't really even understand the results it outputs?  What if the whole time you didn't even know the score existed?

This is the proper way to start a conspiracy theory thread.

Samsung gives warning about talking in front of the Smart TV

Not in front of the television.

A voice command feature on Samsung’s Smart TV could allow the interception of private living room conversations and their transmission to third parties, the company says in a privacy statement highlighted Monday by online news site the Daily Beast.
