I think what makes Von so special (outside of his pass rush moves) is he is a complete linebacker. He started at TAMU as a weakside LB, and then started adding pass rush moves to his game. If you combined Myles Jack with Noah Spence, then you would have a Von Miller prospect.

Fowler breasted in that game ! Thanks for the link!

+1
Watching Miller/Ware thrash both Brady and Newton, hopefully Fowler is good, and hopefully we can get him a partner.

Yea, there's no doubting that he was in full on breast mode for that one.

Vernon....

Vernon and Fowler law firm
Defense wins. It still holds true (unless ocasionally Tom Brady pulls his magic).

The playoffs were filled with tough defenses yet again this year (and Tom Brady):

Broncos

Panthers

Chiefs

Seahawks

Bengals

Cardinals

Vikings

Texans

(Patriots defense was playing well too, but they weren't overly stout).

Anyway, unless a team has an All-Time, Elite QB, it has to have a tough defense too. Hopefully the Jags new acquisitions and players returning start trending them in that direction. Jags offense is already "good enough" to win a championship if the defense was an upper-tier unit.

Would love Vernon. That would be a disruptive duo. Add another pass rushing DT to go along with Marks, and our defense would be on its way.

Starting to look like Miami will either franchise or resign Vernon.

They must have watched the superbowl too. Wake/Vernon is a great duo.
lol here we go. Everyone will now be looking for the next Von Miller. Fowler is not the next Von Miller. The next Von Miller was Khalil Mack two years ago. Last year the closest thing was Beasley. And the closest thing this year is Noah Spence.

uh, no. lol. Jack is far superior in coverage to Miller. Miller has the same speed and range but their coverage skills are night and day. Miller was not that great in coverage coming out of college. What makes Miller special is his ability to run full speed while his body is nearly level with the ground. Consistently. On top of that he is extremely strong for his size. Fowler has neither of these traits. You take away Khalil Mack's elite bend, explosiveness, experience in coverage, and disciplined play against the run and add 10 pounds and you have Fowler.

The Patriots had the second ranked defense in the league.

Hopefully people will begin to see how much help a great pass rush is for a defense.

People haven't seen that already?

I like to see how they are going to pull that off.  Suh is going to count $28 million against the cap this year after his base salary was only $800k last year. This was done so he could fit under their cap for 2015.  Where in the world are they going to get the money to give Vernon a big raise?

I am curious as well, but reports came out over the weekend that he was their top priority this off season.

I've seen a few Fin fans that seem to think they will create cap space by restructuring Suh and Tannehill's contracts.
Sorry to hear that the Dolphins are now strongly considering re-signing or tagging Vernon. He would have been one of my top 3 free agent priorities due to his age and ability to rush the passer. He clearly is the best LEO free agent. If he does go back to Miami, I believe the Jaguars need to strongly consider Spence since Bosa will likely be gone. As great as Ramsay and Jack may become, the Jaguars must immediately address their pass rush. Fowler will help, however the Super Bowl just reinforced the belief that it is extremely hard for any offensive line to contain a defense with 2 elite pass rushers. Even though Ware is past his prime, the Panthers could not contain both he and Miller.

Spence may not be a boy scout, but he is a great pass rusher and if the staff got the impression that he is not an addict they should roll the dice on him. They can still sign a free agent safety and Weddle looks like the most likely due to all the negatives on this board about Gipson. They can still draft someone like De'Andre Houston-Carson in the 3rd or 4th rounds to learn the position from Weddle and take over at some point.

I think this states it best.  The Dolphins are over the cap with the 41 players they have contracts with in 2016.  So they have to get under the cap and sign 4 more players.  Now they are going then going to sign Vernon as one of those 4 players for about5 $10/year?  The only way I could see them do it is have a Suh contract where he makes minimum his first year and has a bloated number his next 3 years.

Look as you can see, I root for the LA Kings.  I am hearing how they really want to sign Milan Lucic to a long term deal and how he loves living in LA.  However it ain't going to happen.  I would love to see him play beyond this season with the Kings but at this point the Kings are just saying what they have to to make it look they are trying to bring him back.  Thus when he leaves, they can say, "hey we tried."
So are half time adjustments and film review on the sidelines to fix things a skill of the past?  If Riverboat Ron is a decent/good head coach, why didn't they make adjustments to slow down the pass rush?

Is this a result of the reduction in practice time from the last CBA?

This is 2 games in a row that the Broncos defense stream rolled an offensive line and no "adjustments" followed.  Interesting when you think of what that means for game planning as we know it.  It sure seams that you just go with what you know more than adjust to the opposition.

Edited to replace "myth" with skill of the past.

I'm not sure there was anything they could do to better protect Cam.

Keeping in as many potential blockers as possible instead of going 5 wide would have helped...
