Obama’s New Oil Tax Plan Will Hike Gas and Heating Prices

President Barack Obama will propose a $10 per barrel tax on oil in the last annual budget he submits to Congress.

Obama reportedly hopes the tax will reduce carbon emissions and plans to use the revenue for spending on public transportation.

If such a proposal passed, then oil companies would likely pass the cost of the new tax on to consumers, meaning gas prices would increase, Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com, told USA Today.

DOA..
He is probably a stakeholder in whatever company is going to get the contract to build the new public transport.

It's just a bit of posturing from the Democrats. They introduce the bill, say they are committed to finding and promoting alternative sources of energy, GOP shoots it down like they always do, get accused of being in the pocket of Big Oil.

Hes about to be a former president. He doesnt have to be a stake holder. Hes going to get a million dollars a speech.
In reality this is just something else to boost his standing on campus
i wish he would just leave office already

If you're gonna make that allegation, I hope you are equally critical of Rick Scott killing a high speed rail plan because he wanted to implement a similar one which would have given the contract to a crony.

All politicians are not unlike the rest of humanity.  It's all about making money.... and power.

You know whats better than a lot of money?  Even more money.
He's officially entered the lame duck phase of his Presidency. As long as he doesn't do anything that completely screws the chances of the Democratic candidate, he can pretty much throw whatever poo he feels like at the wall (like randomly telling a 72-ish Joe Biden that he's in charge of curing cancer) and sit back, relax and wait to see what sticks.

If Joe did cure cancer, Republicans would call him a jobs-killer for putting chemotherapy places out of business.

Something tells me u seriously dont have to worry about that!
Was gas ever this cheap under Bush? It's $1.50 where I am.

If you are insinuating that a President has anything more than .5% of an impact on the cost of oil, then please go back to the kids' table and let the grown-ups do the talking.

You can bet a 100 barrels of oil that if gas prices were high, Obama would be blamed.

The federal government makes more on a gallOn than the producer does. He should be blamed no matter what letter is behind his name.

You are probably correct but that doesn't mean the insinuation is accurate.  Oil prices are down because Iran and Saudi Arabia are in the midst of an economic war.
