Quote:There are players out there!

Who?  And before you answer, consider that you don't just want to throw money at players who are mid-tier or damaged goods.  Eventually you're going to have to re-sign some of your talented younger players to longer term deals.
Sorry, wrong thread.

Quote:Do you think there's any chance the team doesn't keep him after 2016? Does restricted free agency pose some difficult hurdle that I'm not aware of? No. So 2016 and 2017 - that's 2 years, like I said. $5 million a year would mean a $4.5 million raise in 2016 and another $2.5 million raise over what I imagine will be a 2nd round tender when he hits restricted free agency (Tashaun Gipson got that and he was a UDFA as well). Maybe he gets a bit more than $5 mill but I just don't see how Nelson gets $8 mill, when he's closer to free agency, and, you know, umm, better - but you think Hurns will get $10 mill after 2 years in the league. As I said, the whole point of this deal is to sign a guy for less than market value. A bird in the hand...

Jordy did not get 8M, he got closer to 10M (4yr 39M). Wanting to sign a guy below market value is great and all, but again, if I were Hurns' agent and you offered me 5M a year I would hang up on you. You're crazy if you don't think his agent isn't going to be looking at the pat few FA classes when negotiating his next contract.

If he wants to get his money now, he has to take less.   He can get more if he is willing to wait 2 years and take a chance on injuries or other unforeseen circumstances.
I hope they just take their time and really think is a person gonna help them win and be a game changer or waste our money. Don't be afraid to pay but make sure. Come to think of it, pay that money in free agents for some blocking O-linemen for your QB.

Quote:All that says to me is the Oakland Raiders are way better at building a team than the Jaguars. Significantly better coached too.

All this because the Raiders have placed themselves in a position of having to spend way more money than they need to this offseason and will likely have to well overpay players to reach the cap floor? At least the Jaguars picked up enough players over the years that they can do what they want to do this offseason.

Quote:You know financially, if Hurns really wants to get paid he shouldn't resign here. There are teams like the Seahawks that would pay him #1 receiver money.

How do you figure? The Seahawks wouldn't even have the cap space with as many players as they have to fit under the cap. They have players holding out every offseason.

Quote:Only Hurns is eligible for a new deal after 2 seasons. The rest will have to wait another year. I'll bet ARob gets well north of $10 mill and Blake around $20 mill. I hope that happens because it will mean great 2016 seasons from them both.

You seem to be a year behind on your thinking. Hurns is a RFA after this season. There is a thought that as an RFA you could just tender him with a first round tender, but you risk a team possibly going there. The other guys are all UFAs the following year, so the only year they have to wait is this upcoming season. That is, the team would want to lock up guys like ARob, Telvin and Linder in 2017 so you don't risk them hitting free agency in 2018.

How about resigning blake?

No. UDFA's can begin negotiations on a new deal two years into their rookie deal. Bortles on the other hand, has to wait until after his 3rd season.

I'm getting 5 year $43 million on rotoworld. I see sportrac cites 4/39. You could be right, not sure.

This.

Including their best player Kam Chancellor.  That defense looked dramatically different when he finally came back.  Wihout him they were struggling

All that says to me is you don't watch football... The raiders were in a better position than we were 3 and 4 years ago.. they had a few star players on the team when Del Rio took over.. I don't disagree the raiders are an emerging force, but so are the jags.. Raiders first round Cooper was as stud, Our first rounder was injured the entire season.. you are only making an argument out of emotion and not facts.
Quote:Dude just forget him.. Not worth it. Trolls/losers like that should never be responded to.

Anyway, all this says is that the Jags and Raiders will be spending big time in free agency.

It also says the Jags and the Raiders are going to be in the top 5 superbowl contenders in the years to come...

Looking at the raiders 2013 depth chart and their 2015 depth chart the only starter that remains is fb Marcel Reese, there are maybe a total of 5-7 backups that are still on the team.

Nobody knows what's going to happen. I ANTICIPATE the Jaguars and Raiders spending big in free agency.

If you have a QB the rest is easy

I'm not sure why  you said "no" here. I agree that Hurns can begin negotations on his new deal this offseason, and that Bortles, along with the Telvin, Linder, etc, have to wait one more year.

The Jaguars are an emerging force because...? Because you said so? And please tell me what is this you don't watch football crap mean because some of you lames love pulling it out your [BLEEP] to set the table for your all knowledgeable argument. Fact is record wise they are better than the Jaguars. Fact is they've gotten more value out of their draft picks the last couple of drafts. Fact is their coach is better than this trash coach the Jags have. You need to look up the definitions of emotions and facts son.
