The Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos landed in San Jose, California on Sunday - one week before Super Bowl 50. On Monday both teams held their first practice in the Bay Area. Now they are interviewing with nationwide media in front of fans at the SAP Center in San Jose. So let's get started discussing all of the action related to Super Bowl Week before game day.

Go Panthers!

Because of Manning?

Probably because of you...
I'm rooting for the Panthers because I like Cam and Kuechly and just dislike Manning and the hoards of people that somehow think they are Broncos fans because the Colts screwed him over.  So while all the fake Bronco fans and fake Colt fans put on their Colt #18 jerseys, I'll be sitting at home watching Manning choke away another one.

By the way, why can't Manning just say whether or not he will be back next year?  He knows.  If he wants to preface it with if a team gives me an X amount of dollars to come back then I will, if not then I will retire.  I can see Manning having a lot of issues in life not long from now and that's sad.

Manning wants to enjoy Super Bowl Week and not make it all about him. In his mind, now is not the time to make a formal announcement on his retirement plans. I have no problem with that.
I'm rooting for the Panthers because of Jerry Richardson.  Unlike a large number of NFL owners,  I believe that Jerry Richardson acts in the best interest of the NFL and the league's fans.

Jerry Richardson has never been an attention grabber. That says something about him.

  Absolutely.

That's one of many reasons why Jerry Richardson is at or very close to the top of my favorite NFL owners list.
Some interesting tidbits from Opening Night:

Cam Newton on Carolina's chances of winning: "if they're at their best and we're at our best, we're going to win. "We have different ways to attack the defense and I feel as if we're at our best and the other team is at their best, not just speaking of the Denver Broncos, just any other team," Newton said. "If we're at our best and another team is at their best, we will still win."

Derek Anderson on nearly retiring: "I just was done. Mentally, I wasn't in a very good place," Anderson said, describing how he sat in his car one day after the 2009 season and pondered retirement. "I was done with it. I'd dealt with some things off the field. On the field, it wasn't great, and I really just kind of gave up on what got me to where I was."

Peyton Manning on Cam Newton: "He's just had this incredible year. There's no doubt in my mind he's going to be the MVP on Saturday night," Manning said on Opening Night of Super Bowl 50 festivities. "What he's done in the short time being an NFL quarterback, he's been awesome. He's been awesome. That's the best word I can think of. He's been a great passer, he's been a great runner, he's been a great leader. You don't go 17-1 as a starting quarterback without being awesome. And that's what he's been this year without a doubt."

Aqib Talib on becoming more professional at New England: "That definitely helped my professionalism as far as preparation for the game, how to handle the media, my behavior on the field -- everything. I really learned how to be a professional over there."

Wade Phillips on having his best defense ever: "I think this game will determine that," Phillips said Monday at Opening Night here in San Jose. "To hold Pittsburgh to 16 points and New England to 18 points, and we play a tremendous game this game, I think you'd have to rate them pretty high. It's up to everyone to determine that, it depends on how we play obviously, but you almost never lead the league in every category. And even rushing, we were third but we gave up the fewest yards per carry. So we almost literally led the league in every major category."

This is another reason for me too and good point D6.
Let Peyton win and retire

Peyton will retire either way, but I want to see him win his last game.
Not a good day for one Broncos player who grew up in Oakland:

Wow, so it was his non-football playing brother that was involved but HE gets sent home from the Super Bowl.

Talk about Murphy's Law.

LOL You never know what will happen before the Super Bowl, but this one is really weird.

I feel bad for his family and friends who would have had a chance to meet him in California.
Let's hope she was a hot one.
Interested to watch the game, but hate this whole week.  Having hundreds of media outlets searching for stories makes me cringe.
