Just want to say this makes the Julius Thomas deal that much better.  Ertz is good but he almost got the same amount of money as JT,  Ertz is no where near as good as JT though IMO

9 career TD catches.

JT had 24 over a 2 year span before we signed him.
I think they needed to lock Ertz down. Probably a good move.  Not sure their cap situation, so I can't say how badly they overpaid, but he's a good receiving TE.

In terms of how it reflects on the Jags situation --  I'm happy with Thomas moving forward and feel fine with his salary.

To me it seems like we got a good deal on the JT signing.  Im curious to what teams he chose us over?  I would like to think he got an offer like we gave him from some other teams but chose us for one reason or another.  Gus is a good motivation speaker, no state tax, young offense on the rise?
I remember reading the Seahawks were heavily courting him.

Ertz is frustrating in fantasy football.
The Eagles also re-signed TE Brent Celek to a multi-year contract.  It's evident that the TE position will be a major focal point in Philadelphia under Doug Pederson and OC Frank Reich:

Eagles, Brent Celek agree to 3-year deal worth $13 million
And he doesn't do any celebrations -- that means that he has great character.

If he celebrated a big play, a first down, or a TD, then that would mean that he has questionable character.
