Yes I am, but I still feel it would be best for him to spend one season learning behind Romo.

This is fantasy thinking at it's purest. Romo is not the QB he was in his prime, even at that rate, his own flaws and inability to win in big moments have caused his career to come to rigorous end. I can't see him lasting a full season, being a game manger or guy to grow Borltes

Bortles is grown and his mechanical flaws are going to be extremely difficult to fix and more so the mental mistakes are really hard to reimagine
Does the team get the 2015 Blake? Or does the team get the 2016 version?

I don't believe Blake should be handed the starting role. The Jags need to bring in competition at QB...serious competition.

Not ready to give up on Blake but definitely not sold on him either

At this point in time, as in right now, judging from everything I have seen from Bortles play on the field, I simply cannot envision Bortles being able to win a playoff game, which is ultimately what any QB needs to do if his team is ever going to win the big one. I just can't see it. I'm also having a hard time just envisioning Bortles leading the Jags to a winning record, from what I have seen from him so far.

There's no doubt 2017 is going to be a really telling season for Bortles as far as his career with the Jags goes and I am really hoping that he turns it around and there was really something to the improved looking Bortles we saw for 6 of those last 8 quarters of the season we saw last year, but as of right now, I am much more of a Bortles hoper then I am a Bortles believer.

I will have to see a much better and improved Bortles next season to become a true believer though. I do expect he will look good in the preseason, but what will he look like in the regular season when it really matters?

And how would he do that while Romo is laid up in the hospital? Romo is fragile. Needs to retire before he is too broken to enjoy it.

I can't say either way. I'm on the fence. Dude can be really good, and dude can be really bad..
Blake Bortles is the most talented QB the Jaguars have ever had; he's proved that with off the charts #s

He has also been the least astute in terms of understanding the art of winning in the NFL. Less talented QBs in Jags history have 'managed' the team to respectable heights, with comparable or less overall talent.

A QB guides his team to victory through the ebbs and flows of a game. Bortles is an outstanding athlete that can make the necessary throws. Quarterbacking however is this thing that one can just see. Those moments have been rare. Here's hoping it comes together for him and the team. If you add awareness, savvy and technical soundness to his raw skills, watch out. Is it reasonable to expect all facets to mesh sustainably?

Currently 61% yes to 39% no, so you and your whiny Blake posts would appear to be the useless ones here.

'Learn'.  LOL
Voted yes.

I voted no because I think he'll always be a TO machine. We may find some success with him but I don't believe we will be a Super Bowl contender. With our soon to be great D, we're better off building the offensive line and having more of a game manager than a gun slinger.
42-23 says it all.  65% of the people on this message board, who tend to be the most critical think he still has a shot to be a qb.

A few people beat the drum that Bortles wont make it, when in reality a large majority of the fan base thinks he can still do it.

When and if that finally happens, we'll get a good chance to see just where Bortles is at.

No and a lot of it has to do with giving him a huge contract.  I think Bortles has to put in more work than most QBs to put up a so-so season.  I'd rather move on to someone who's more of a natural thrower...hopefully we do that in next year's draft.

Give him a huge contract?  What?  You know all of that stuff is pre-determined by draft slot and he hasn't signed any new agreement.

I've always thought a majority of this board still believed in Bortles for 2017.

The drum beaters are the one or two people around here constantly crying about how mean everyone is to Blake, when clearly that's not the case.

As for me, I won't believe in Blake's abilities until I see them consistently, but I'll root for the guy because of his jersey.

I'm talking about in the future.  I wouldn't be interested in extending.  You have to pay QBs even if they're meh.

See Glennon, Mike.

That's another reason I'm ok if they draft a QB at 4; they won't have to commit legitimate resources to a guy they still dont know is their franchise QB, and we can get a guy on a cheap deal for 5 years and spend those resources on more sure players already on the team.

If we pay Bort big money and he flops and we don't have his replacement in hand, this franchise is going to see another 5 years just like the last 5.
Well...he's the best QB on the roster, and the best QB that we've had in a while, but I don't think he is the QB that will lead this team to playoff appearance, let alone a championship game. Lack of good decision making and accuracy/mechanics will keep him in the middle of the pack. Great at scrambling, and can take a lick from a defender. I don't think this team will ever do better than 8-8 with him at QB. And that is because you have to succeed in the first half of a game, and not just in garbage time.
Coughlin does always seems to get pretty good QB play on his teams and I can't imagine it being Henne so ...
