Before one of the playoff games one station was doing a bit about how Cam always gave the ball too kid in the first row. I always thought that was cool and how it made some child's day and watching them light up after receiving the ball made my day. Later on that day when watching the game Cam ran it in or something, I can't remember, and I'm thinking alright cool, let's watch the lucky kid. But I'm watching and watching and he's just standing there arms crossed smiling at the crowd in the end one while another teammate tracked the ball down and gave it to a kid. To me, that kinda came off as selfish. I kept thinking, surely he's not going to keep that pose. Then I started thinking, how long is this dude gonna stand there like that. Just seemed like he felt it was all about him especially since he was on the national spotlight. Who knows, maybe I'm recalling it wrong.

....wait, ^ that doesn't make me racist does it? I'm so confused at this point.
Quote:@NYC, you never stated that Robinson and Hurns were "lacking character" like you stated that Cam does. You emphatically stated that Cam "lacks character" because of his first down celebrations. I then asked you does that apply to AROB and Hurns and you then back peddled to "well, it's just a bit over the top". With that said:

1) Does the "lacking character" apply to AROB and Hurns?

2) If not, would you like to retract your "lacking character" statement about Cam?

LOL.  Relax. I already answered your questions.  Sorry you're having trouble.

There's no double standard for Jaguars players. I'd prefer them to scale it back. (Hurns actually is quite laid back after many plays/TDs)

Like I've said - too many times now - it doesn't mean I don't "like" Cam or the Allens or Deion Sanders.  I just prefer guys who show a bit more humility.

Don't make a mountain of a mole hill.

I just think doing this after every first down is silly and lacking in character.   ^

Not just for him, for nearly every NFL player.  My dad is a huge Steeler fan and Antonio Brown gets on his nerves till no end when he does it. lol....its funny watching him get so mad about it.
Quote:@NYC, re your quote regarding Came here: "I just think doing this after every first down is silly and lacking in character."

Does that apply to the players I mentioned (Hurns, Robinson), since they do the same type of thing?

To take it further, want to know what is even worse?  When your down by lets say three touchdowns and your defensive player celebrates a sack like he just won the Super Bowl....yes, its all players, not just Cam!  Don't you get it?
@NYC, I'd argue that it is you who are making a mountain out of a mole hill because you consider a guy celebrating a first down by pointing both of his fingers as having bad character.......think about that

The bold part is how most people feel about Cam...but some will keep skimming over what people here keep saying over and over because it doesn't fit into their tiny little agenda.

Or he could give the ball to the ref, jog back to the huddle and get his team ready to go for the next play...think about that.

It's a matter of preference.  You're thick dude.

Wow. You blew my mind.

Again.  Relax.  I said LACKING character. Not bad character.

I'm sure he's a great guy.  And he's totes adorbs in his spanx.  Can I think about that instead?
I'm glad you guys prefer guys who show a little more humility....I'd imagine you aren't fans of any skill player on our team.

Dude. Watch a game sometime.

Blake goes straight to the sideline after half of his TD passes.
Many people enjoy salsa quite a bit. They love it's boldness and spice. I enjoy it too. Many times I'll enjoy some salsa. If it contains cilantro in it, I don't care for it as much. I don't like the taste of cilantro.

Now would that statement ruffle any feathers?

racist bigot, im triggered and off to reddit to meltdown my keyboard

Hopefully AROB will stop spinning the ball like he's in a circus or something every time he makes a play. Shows he has a lack of character.

That's because his first instinct is to run for the sideline the ball was thrown to in the event he has to tackle someone going the other way.  :woot:

I just think doing this after every first down is silly and lacking in character.   ^

Preface:  I am in no way impugning your racial attitudes for the purposes of this discussion.

Question:  After every first down, the stadium erupts into the "Move those chains" chant along with the first down signal.  For that matter, in Denver, after every opponent's incompletion, the crowd yells "In-Com-Plete!"

Are those the actions of people lacking in character (acknowledging the innate silliness of it)?

Do fans have license to do things that players don't?  Why?

Are players held to a higher standard of behavior than fans?  Should they be?

If people having little to nothing to do with the outcome of the game (fans) can express emotions after an event that happens within a game, why can't players, who have everything to do with what transpired, express themselves without scorn, as long as it is within the rules of the game?

You guys just don't get it with the celebrations.  It's a black thang.

I'm afraid that NYC has dug himself into a hole here.

I would imagine a few particularly zealous cilantro spiced salsa fans reading this board might take exception.

I'm apparently not taking this seriously enough.  LOL.  None of this is of any importance to me, but I'll try (again) to be clear.

Celebration by fans and players is part of the game. We all get that. (I hope.) Nowadays - the league has geared itself towards a bit more emphasis on entertainment over sport in my opinion. It's a business, and I get that too. I still enjoy the heck out of it.  With that in mind - it somewhat behooves players to "showboat" a bit.  The league likes it - their agents like it - and most fans like it too. It's expected. I don't cringe when I see it. I don't even think less of the player the majority of the time depending on "how far" they take basking in their moment of glory.

I simply enjoy/prefer seeing guys get back to the huddle/sideline etc and keep their game face on. It's nothing more than a preference and probably a little nostalgic on my part.  There is no "standard" beyond the rules of the game - but I'm allowed my opinion. I'd love it if Allen Robinson acted like Barry Sanders when he scored - but he doesn't. I'm still a fan. It's that simple.

For the record - I never join in the "move those chains" bit either. I think it's clumsy.  But it doesn't upset me in any way - just like Cam's superman deal.

I'm not bothered by it. I just have a bit more respect for the players that don't feel the need to showboat and let their play do the talking.
