'X-Files' Creator: 'I Thought The FBI Was Going To Shut Me Down'
A mysterious man told Chris Carter that his conspiracy-themed TV classic was too close to the truth.
Alien conspiracies, monsters, cryptids, mutants, paranormal phenomena -- just a typical day for the fictional FBI agents of "The X-Files."
But how close to fiction was it?
Creator, writer and director Chris Carter tells a real-life tale about the show in its early days that's worthy of the show's catchphrase,
"The truth is out there."

Loved this show then, and I can't wait to see it premier again tonight
Not bad. A little predictable, some clumsy dialogue and a slow start, but lots of promise. It's got a lot to live up to.

Have it on DVR and hopefully can get to it later this afternoon. You are right though, it has a lot to love up to.
I was a fan of the original show. I have the new one on DVR as well. I'm keeping my hopes tempered, though.
I remember when Peter Boyle starred in an episode and thinking how well he played the part. He ended up winning an Emmy award for it. I shoulda been a film critic.
I was a little dissapointed.
Not with gillian anderson though. My goodness...

Alex Jones would be proud of the reboot.

Really? I don't think she's aged all that well. Looks like she's had a few facial procedures over the years.

I don't think she's had much, if anything done. I think she's lost a bunch of weight since the heyday of the show.

Might be that.
On a non-Gillian Anderson topic, I'm not sure how I feel about Mulder basically becoming Glenn Beck.
I like the mature look. Amazing how differently she dresses.
I hate this idea of scrapping or questioning the old mythology. We saw the syndicate burned alive by the rebel aliens. Scully was there when they abducted cassandra spender and killed all the abductees.
I just watched the first segment. That's all I want to see. It immediately reminded me of why I don't watch network programming anymore. They immediately go political, the dialogue is predictable, and production effects are cheap. I'm disappointed but not surprised. They do try to work in some cleavage shots of Gillian Anderson though. She's had a lot of work done.
Check me off for a Liked it.
Its okay but its okay because im already head over heels in love with the charecters.

I'm assuming you did your checking off in private.
Never saw the original series but I'm liking this sequal series. Reminds me of fringe that fox ran for a few years but better quality filming.
The second episode was such a retread. Meh.

The UFO crash at the beginning was a bit of a letdown, after they were hyping it up like they did. But pretty much every fox series is good. Their shows are like an hour long but seem like they last about 20 minutes.
