Laremy Tunsil is officially the highest graded prospect since NFL.com has been keeping track, at 7.7, beating Jadeveon Clowney and Leonard Williams by .2. Myles Jack is also 7.5, and our boy Jalen Ramsey comes in at 6.8 which I believe is the highest rating ever for a DB. I imagine they'll be much different when the combine rolls around.

It doesn't really mean much but they're always fun to keep track of. If you want an idea of how wrong these things usually are, Allen Robinson came in at 5.6, which meant according to NFL.com's experts, he "has a chance to become an NFL starter"

Anyone you guys agree or disagree with based on what you've seen from them on tape?

Ahhh thank you. I love when NFL.com comes out with their rankings. Will be looking through these this morning.

It's interesting to note that they have Deforest Buckner (7.3, 3rd overall) rated higher than Joey Bosa (6.7, 7th overall).  I would love for Bosa to fall to the 5th pick.

Yeah, surprised to see Bosa ranked that low... seems like I have seen a few people lately souring on him. Then again, we are entering the cycle were every player is over-analyzed and torn apart. Seems like by May, we haven't poked so many wholes in every prospect that we don't want to draft anyone.

That being said, if Bosa is a bigger Ryan Kerrigan then I would love him at 5.

FWIW Bucky Brooks ranked Jalen Ramsey as his top prospect.

I don't think anyone is "souring" on Joey Bosa. Draft analysts are mocking Leremy Tunsil to a team whose top need is LT. Bosa is being mocked to the Cowboys, a team that needs a DE. That tells me they have also taken team needs into account. I mean look at the mockers who have the Browns selecting Jared Goff just because they need a QB. Who would think he is a top 5 talent and good value at #2 overall?

But then again I don't bother reading player rankings before the combine. It is way too early to worry about that.
Here's the thing with these types of ratings.  They aren't transitive to other ranking systems in that you can't compare the actual numbers to other sites and have a straight up comparison.

What you can do, as the OP has, is compare them to past rankings of the same scale.

In general, I find them to be a very good source.  Again, when comparing them to themselves when dealing in specific grades.

NFL.com and cbssports are the two "rankings" sites I probably reference most, but as always... take any with a grain of salt.  What you can also take is the order of the rankings vs other sources to see if there's consensus among them.  Most are in a similar ballpark, but the most interesting are those that vary wildly.

Refreshing that I have yet to see anyone go with the invented "edge" designation that was the rage in 2015, and are respectfully and more accurately placing them at DE or OLB.  Time will show, IMO, that they fell back on that in 2015 due to the high number of rush OLBs and guys that didn't necessarily translate well at RDE at the NFL level, those who would likely transition into rush OLBs or play on designated rush situations (roles like "leo" or DPR.)  In other words, the analysts couldn't clearly project what position many if not most of them would play next, so they all were put under the "edge" category as a result.

Another word I have seen for those players is hybrid because they play both OLB and DE on a regular basis. That is what they call Khalil Mack.

I absolutely see a bigger and more talented Ryan Kerrigan in Bosa. Neither are crazy explosive (I highly doubt Bosa blows up the combine), but both play with a very high motor and make a lot of effort plays. Kerrigan was instantly the first person who popped into my mind while watching Bosa.

Remember when many people on this board wanted Kerrigan at #16 and he actually was the 16th pick? We missed him by trading up for a no-good quarterback.

Bosa has been described as a top 5 talent since the 2015 season began. Nobody heaped that much praise on Kerrigan. I don't see how you can compare them. Bosa will not move to OLB like Kerrigan did.
Would love to take Myles Jack. It seems like most NFL scouts are viewing Ramsey as a CB prospect. If we can get Gipson in FA I would love to take Jack.

I only saw Ramsey being viewed as a FS prospect.

I still believe Ramsey will be best at Safety. Not a big fan of him at CB.

I'll be happy with any of the 3, Bosa, Ramsey or Jack. Got to believe at least 1 of them will still be there at #5.

So far draft analysts on NFL.com have not put "Myles Jack" and "top 5 talent" in the same sentence. He will be available at 5 for sure, but maybe not the best value.

Some draftniks sure. But it seems like most NFL personnel people are viewing him at corner and a lot don't see him as a true top 5 type of talent.
Ramsey Bosa or Jack is looking like the pick. And I'm fine with that.

Tunsil and a QB with also be in the top 5.

1. Tunsil

2. Goff

3. Bosa

4. Treadwell

5. Ramsey/Jack

That's how I see the top 5 playing out.
Am I the only one who thinks Jared Goff is in the top 5 just because the Browns need a QB? This is a bad year for quarterbacks. I am not saying Goff is overrated. It just seems like the only reason people think he will be the #2 pick overall is there will be no franchise quarterbacks available at #32.

Carson Wentz will be the best QB in this draft.

If that is true I don't want him to be a Cowboy.
